The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 119

During this period, Jiang Chan hadn’t let up on her attention toward Qin Miao. You could say she had eyes on Qin Miao’s every move. Who she met, what she did, Jiang Chan kept it all in mind.

There’s a lyric that says, “A woman who’s lost her ties wants to fly free.” That described Qin Miao perfectly. She had no one around her anymore, so she had nothing to worry about.

Right now, she was getting along well with that middle-aged man. The KTV Jiang Chan and the others visited last time was his. No wonder he didn’t have to sign in at the front desk.

That man wasn’t a good person either. His name was Zhu Yonghua. In his youth, he was aggressive and liked to fight, but he got by well in society. Later, he used his connections to open a KTV in the city, along with two gyms and several bars. So, he had a decent amount of money on hand.

According to the detective’s report, Zhu Yonghua definitely had a shady background. Jiang Chan narrowed her eyes. Waiting around had never been her style. Besides, as long as Qin Miao didn’t act, she couldn’t submit her task and return.

If Qin Miao never made a move, would she be stuck in this world forever?

Her mind worked quickly, and she soon came up with a plan. It was simple. After everything she’d been through, Qin Miao was no fool. She would definitely start suspecting that these incidents were somehow connected to Jiang Chan.

Now Jiang Chan just had to add fuel to those suspicions. Once Qin Miao lost control, it would only be natural for her to act irrationally.

It was a bit risky, yes, but if she didn’t take a chance and let Qin Miao stay hidden in the dark, Jiang Chan wouldn’t be at ease.

And just as Jiang Chan expected, Qin Miao really had begun to doubt the things happening around her in recent years. She had a constant feeling that an invisible hand was manipulating it all.

The man she had recently clung to, Zhu Yonghua, still had some influence. Qin Miao asked him to help investigate. And once he did, everything became clear. Jiang Chan’s identity was completely exposed.

Qin Miao had suspected Jiang Chan before, but there was no proof. Now that she had concrete evidence, her hatred for Jiang Chan burned fiercely.

The light in her eyes flickered. Zhu Yonghua, sitting beside her, crossed his legs with a smirk. “What, still thinking about how to deal with your former stepdaughter?”

Honestly, when he first saw the files, Zhu Yonghua was stunned. That girl hadn’t even shown her face, yet had already pushed Qin Miao into such a situation.

Even the way the information had arrived seemed a little too convenient. Zhu Yonghua tapped his fingers on the sofa’s armrest, clearly thinking about something.

Hearing his comment, Qin Miao instantly acted like she’d found her savior. She leaned softly against him and said, “Brother Yong, that girl ruined me. Lend me a few guys. I want to deal with her.”

Zhu Yonghua replied lazily, “Lending you a few people is fine, but don’t go causing trouble for me.”

“Sister Chan, Bingyue came back today. Her first show is finally over. Let’s have a get-together tonight to welcome her back.”

Shen Yu’s voice was loud over the phone. Jiang Chan looked away from her computer screen. “Alright. Where are we going? KTV again?”

Shen Yu raised her voice. “KTV’s boring. Let’s hit a bar instead, broaden our horizons a bit. There’s a famous one in the south of the city. Let’s check it out.”

Jiang Chan rubbed her forehead. “Bars are full of all kinds of people. It’s better not to go.”

Shen Yu didn’t mind. “What are you scared of? I’ve trained. If something happens, I’ll protect you all!”

Jiang Chan was helpless against Shen Yu’s bravado. “Alright. What time’s Bingyue’s flight?”

“Around three in the afternoon. I’ll pick her up. Let’s meet at the bar. You better be on time, workaholic.” Before Jiang Chan could reply, Shen Yu hung up.

Tonight’s gathering was just the five of them. Mo Xingyu was still back home, so it was just their old group. After hanging up, Jiang Chan squinted. A bar in the south? Famous?

Could it be Zhu Yonghua’s bar, The Other Side? If so, things were getting interesting. Jiang Chan rubbed her chin and made a few phone calls.

After making arrangements, she checked the time and headed toward the southern part of the city.

She stood outside the bar, observing. Though called a bar, it was basically an entertainment club. It had private rooms, KTV, and a restaurant, all spread across different floors.

She’d arrived early, around five in the afternoon. She wanted to scout the place. Her bodyguards waited outside. She had considered that if anything happened, they could come in to assist. No need to show them openly.

Bars are gathering spots for nightlife, so it wasn’t crowded yet. Jiang Chan lounged lazily on a corner sofa, listening to soft background music, but she didn’t dare let her guard down.

She had just stepped into Zhu Yonghua’s territory. For all she knew, Qin Miao might be here tonight too. She had to be cautious.

As it turned out, Qin Miao really was at The Other Side Bar. Zhu Yonghua was stationed there himself, as he’d invested most of his money into the place and had to keep an eye on it.

Qin Miao had a talent for winning people over when she wanted to. Almost no one could resist her charm. That included Zhu Yonghua. Men like him, bold and aggressive, were especially drawn to soft, gentle women.

But this beauty wasn’t as gentle as she seemed. When needed, she could turn into a Medusa and strike without warning.

On the second floor, in a private room facing the entrance, Qin Miao sat with Zhu Yonghua. It was a one-way mirrored room. Those inside could see everything outside, but no one outside could see in.

Qin Miao spotted Jiang Chan the moment she entered. Even though Jiang Chan had changed a lot, she still couldn’t hide the fact that she looked just like Lin Wan.

Qin Miao’s breathing immediately became rapid. Noticing her unease, Zhu Yonghua looked down and saw a delicate face, but with a very serious expression.

His memory was good. He’d just seen Jiang Chan’s file not long ago. Seeing her in person, she was even more stunning than in the photos. He crossed his leg with amusement. “That’s your former stepdaughter?”

Qin Miao said nothing, but Zhu Yonghua understood everything from her expression.
