“Brother Yong, does what you said last time about lending me a few people still count?” Qin Miao dropped her vicious expression, softened her tone, and leaned against Zhu Yonghua, acting coquettishly.
Zhu Yonghua downed the red wine in his glass in one gulp. “Of course it counts. If you need anything, just talk to third brother.”
“Great, I’m relieved to hear that. I’ll go find third brother now.” After planting a kiss on Zhu Yonghua’s cheek, Qin Miao swayed her hips and walked out to find the third brother.
Watching her figure disappear through the door, Zhu Yonghua narrowed his eyes. This woman was still a viper with a pretty face. Once this is over, he’d better cut ties with her early. Who knows when she might turn on him.
As for asking the third brother to help Qin Miao with something today, Zhu Yonghua didn’t take it seriously. He assumed she just wanted to scare Jiang Chan a little, who would have guessed Qin Miao would take things that far?
Setting aside whatever nasty plans Qin Miao had, by six o’clock, Shen Yu and the others had finally arrived. The bar was also gradually getting crowded.
The first floor was the main hall of the bar, with a large dance floor in the center for people to dance. With the loud music blaring, Jiang Chan’s head was already starting to ache.
Aside from her and Zhao Bingyue, who preferred quiet, Shen Yu, Li Yan, and Song Yifei were all bursting with curiosity. Once the music started, the three of them dragged each other into the dance floor and started to party.
Jiang Chan went ahead and booked a private room. After giving the bartender a few instructions, she and Zhao Bingyue tucked themselves away, enjoying some peace and quiet. They knew that once the others had their fun, they’d come find them. The soundproofing in the private room was pretty good. It at least kept the loud music out.
Looking at the star-like aura now radiating from Zhao Bingyue, Jiang Chan curled her lips. “Looks like you’re adapting well.”
Zhao Bingyue held a glass of juice. “It’s not bad. It’s a bit tiring, but I’ve also learned a lot.”
Jiang Chan patted her shoulder. “Keep it up. The next international supermodel will be you!”
Zhao Bingyue raised her glass toward Jiang Chan. “I’ll accept your blessing.”
Had she not entered this line of work, Zhao Bingyue might never have imagined life could be lived another way. There was no denying it, after witnessing that strange and brilliant world, her ambition had been truly ignited.
In her young eyes, something called “a dream” now flickered, shining brilliantly. Jiang Chan raised her own glass. It seemed Zhao Bingyue had already found her path forward.
Just as they were talking, there was a knock on the private room door. A waiter she didn’t recognize stood there holding a tray.
“Hello. To show our appreciation to our customers, our general manager has specially prepared a signature cocktail for our esteemed guests today. We hope you’ll enjoy it.”
The waiter’s face was full of smiles, appearing exceptionally sincere.
Jiang Chan glanced at the tray, there were exactly two glasses. She smirked. “Your boss sure plays favorites. There are five of us in here. Three more are dancing on the floor right now.”
The waiter’s expression froze slightly. He discreetly glanced at the sofa, there were indeed several extra bags. So it wasn’t a lie.
He set the two colorful cocktails on the coffee table and said with a composed expression, “Please wait, I’ll bring the other three shortly.”
After he left, Zhao Bingyue looked curiously at the drinks on the table. Under the lights, they sparkled in beautiful colors.
“They look so pretty.” She crouched by the table, admiring them, but made no move to pick one up. After becoming a model, she knew not everything could be consumed carelessly.
Her diet was now tightly controlled, maintaining her figure was of the utmost importance.
Jiang Chan glanced at the cocktails, then pulled out a pack of wet wipes from her bag. She dipped one into the drink, folded it up, and put it back in her bag.
Then, using a tissue to hold the glass, she poured half of the cocktails into the toilet in the private room’s restroom, making it look as though they had each been half-drunk.
“Sister Chan, what are you doing?” Zhao Bingyue, an eighteen-year-old girl, was naturally curious. She only asked after Jiang Chan had finished.
Jiang Chan made a “shh” gesture with her finger. “Don’t you believe me? This waiter probably only delivered cocktails to our private room. This is clearly a move targeting us.”
“If you don’t believe me, go peek into the hallway. See if any other rooms got the same treatment.”
Zhao Bingyue, not one to blindly believe, peeked out of the door for about five or six minutes. There was no activity in any of the other private rooms.
She quietly sat down on the sofa. “Sister Chan, what’s going on?”
Jiang Chan propped her chin on her hand. “I have a suspect in mind, but I’m not certain just yet.”
At that moment, a very boisterous Shen Yu and Li Yan finally found their way to the private room on the second floor. Jiang Chan looked at them and noticed that Song Yifei was not with them. She gestured with her chin. “Where’s Yifei?”
Li Yan laughed loudly. “She had an upset stomach. She went to the restroom not long after we started dancing. She’s not back yet?”
After walking in and sitting down, Shen Yu saw the two half-empty drinks on the coffee table. “Sister Chan, you’re drinking alcohol?”
“And you, Bingyue? Aren’t you supposed to maintain your figure?”
The man standing by the door relaxed. Good, they drank it. He composed himself and pushed the door open, walking into the room. Upon seeing the two cocktails, which were only half-full, the man’s face relaxed even more.
On the tray were three more cocktails. After the waiter put them down and left, Shen Yu reached out for a glass, about to drink it.
Zhao Bingyue’s heart leaped into her throat. Jiang Chan suddenly tapped the coffee table, not too hard, not too soft. “Shen Yu, what have you been up to this summer? Does Uncle Shen know you’re this wild?”
Shen Yu subconsciously put the glass down on the coffee table and yelled, “What do you mean ‘wild’? Aren’t we supposed to relax and have fun when we go out? Why are we so concerned about everything in a bar?”
Jiang Chan smiled faintly. “Some things you can’t just eat or drink without thinking. Just leave it there.”
Seeing Zhao Bingyue signaling to them, Li Yan and Shen Yu immediately understood. The two of them quieted down, and the cocktail in front of Li Yan was left completely untouched.
After all, they were just young girls who hadn’t seen much of the world. Their tension was palpable. Jiang Chan tapped the coffee table. “Calm down, don’t let anyone notice.”
Shen Yu lowered her voice, but couldn’t hide her inner agitation. “How can I be calm? This bar is so sketchy!”
Jiang Chan sighed. “I told you before, places like this are a mess. But today, you’ve just been caught in the crossfire. The real target is me.”
