Just like that, Song Ye, with his little wife and a group of technicians, headed enthusiastically for the capital.
Originally, these technicians had been quite eager to see the legendary capital city, Beijing. Tang County had developed well, but it was only a recently promoted county. A big city like Beijing should be even more advanced and prosperous, right?
But after entering Beijing, except for Song Ye and Tang Guo, the rest of the group looked at each other, disappointment flashing in their eyes. Beijing was indeed big, and there were a lot of people. Everything seemed bustling, yet somehow, they still felt Tang County looked better.
Especially the buildings and the commercial street planning in Tang County were very well-organized, neat and brand new. Though small, the city’s appearance was far more stylish than that of Beijing.
Whether it was in how people dressed, or the variety of shops and goods sold on the streets, Beijing truly couldn’t compare to Tang County.
Of course, the ancient charm and historical depth that belonged to Beijing were things Tang County couldn’t match. In the end, each place had its own merits.
After Song Ye arranged accommodations for all the technicians, he took Tang Guo to a small inn, found a place to send a telegram to Song Qing, and after having a meal, the two waited at the inn.
Not long after, someone knocked on the door downstairs, saying someone had come to see them.
“It should be Big Sister.”
Song Ye looked at himself in the mirror, felt that nothing was amiss, and then, holding Tang Guo’s hand, opened the door and went downstairs.
Outside the small inn, they saw a man and a woman. The woman was beautiful and graceful, wearing a very fashionable coat for this era, with a plain-colored scarf and a burgundy hat, and black high-heeled leather shoes. The man beside her looked handsome and gentle, wearing glasses. The two looked like a perfect match.
“Sister.”
The moment Song Ye saw Song Qing, he called out almost instinctively. Tang Guo, whose hand was being held by him, could feel the excitement in him. She also called out and then quietly stepped aside.
“Hey…”
The moment Song Qing saw Song Ye, she couldn’t hold back. Her eyes filled with tears instantly. She blinked hard and looked up, trying to hold back the tears, but unfortunately, they didn’t obey and started to fall, drop by drop.
The man beside her quickly pulled out tissues and gently wiped her face. “Aren’t you supposed to be happy seeing your brother?”
“I am happy,” Song Qing glared at the man teasing her. “I’m so happy that I’m crying, okay?”
After saying that, she pushed the man aside and rushed to hug Song Ye. Tang Guo sensibly let go of Song Ye’s hand, giving the siblings a moment together.
Song Qing couldn’t hold back and cried in Song Ye’s arms for several minutes. Eventually, she noticed a very pretty girl watching her, so she quickly let go of Song Ye and walked over to Tang Guo.
“You must be Guo Guo.”
“Hello, Big Sister.”
“Guo Guo, thank you.” Song Qing gripped Tang Guo’s hand emotionally, eyes red. “Thank you and your family for treating Xiao Ye so well and letting him find a home in that unfamiliar place.”
She then placed Tang Guo’s hand back in Song Ye’s. She had noticed earlier how close this couple was.
“This is your brother-in-law. His name is Li Fan. He’s a professor at Peking University. We met abroad.” Song Qing introduced him, then quickly invited the two to get into the car, which was driven by Li Fan.
