Chen Fangfang didn’t understand why Tang Guo suddenly called her by her full name and looked so cold, but she was a little scared inside.
Tang Guo’s lips curved slightly. “I hope you can put away those little thoughts in your heart. You know what I mean. If you really provoke me, I’ll make sure you can’t stay in Tang County.”
Chen Fangfang couldn’t smile anymore. She opened her mouth to say something, but when she saw Tang Guo’s half-smiling expression, cold sweat broke out on her back. A chill spread through her heart, and she suddenly had the urge to flee.
She wasn’t afraid of Chen Ying and had even fought her before, but this delicate-looking, fair and tender village flower in front of her, she really did feel a little afraid.
“Sister Village Flower, what are you saying?”
“How could I have such thoughts?”
Tang Guo raised her eyebrows lightly. “It’s best if you don’t.”
Chen Fangfang couldn’t stay any longer. She kept feeling that this little village flower wasn’t someone to mess with, far scarier than her fierce older sister.
She didn’t know exactly what the consequences would be, but her instincts told her it wouldn’t end well. She quickly said goodbye to Tang Guo, didn’t bring up Song Ye again, and left. The way she fled looked like something terrifying was chasing after her.
Song Ye returned after checking on the chickens at the farm behind the hill and noticed a cup of tea on the table that hadn’t been cleared. “Did we have a guest?”
“Chen Fangfang.”
Tang Guo leaned on the sofa and watched the black-and-white TV. For someone like her who had seen extravagant sights, a black-and-white TV wasn’t anything special. But in this era, with little to no entertainment, having a TV just meant one more source of sound in the house.
“What did she come for?”
Song Ye walked over and pulled his little wife into his arms. His Guo Guo was always fragrant and soft. Once he hugged her, he didn’t want to let go. Even after being away just a short while, it felt like they’d been apart for ages. He truly couldn’t bear to be away from her, not even for half a minute.
Tang Guo smiled and looked up. “She said she came to see Ah Ye.”
Song Ye instinctively sensed that something was off in Guo Guo’s tone. He didn’t know Chen Fangfang well, and they had no business dealings. Her seeking him out certainly wasn’t for a good reason.
“What did she want with me?” he still asked.
Tang Guo chuckled softly, “What else could it be? She’s taken a liking to Ah Ye, of course.”
“Nonsense.” Song Ye, afraid of being misunderstood, quickly pulled her tightly into his arms. “Guo Guo, don’t listen to people talking nonsense. My heart only has you, and you’re the only one I see.”
“I know.” Tang Guo found his nervousness a little funny and quickly hugged him back to reassure him. “Who told Ah Ye to be so outstanding, making all the women in Tang County’s hearts flutter?”
Song Ye was a little troubled. He didn’t care what those women thought. What he feared was that their behavior would affect his Guo Guo in a bad way.
“Ah Ye, don’t worry. However many women dare to covet you, I’ll deal with them all,” Tang Guo said with a smile. “As long as they dare to show up, I’ll dare to fight them. I guarantee the mere thought of me will become a lifelong shadow for them.”
Song Ye was amused. Seeing that Guo Guo hadn’t been affected by those women at all, he felt at ease.
“Ah Ye, it’s been so many years. Have you ever thought about going back for a visit?”
Tang Guo suddenly remembered, all these years, Song Ye had only kept in touch with his older sister. As for the rest of his family, it was as if they had vanished.
