“Hey…” Luo Chunli was very frustrated. Could she really not worry?
She dealt with those wives every day, and every day it was all about grandsons, granddaughters, and more grandchildren.
Because her son-in-law was so outstanding, such a legendary figure, he always became the topic of conversation.
As they chatted, the conversation would eventually turn to the fact that the couple still had no children, and everyone would start worrying for her.
In fact, she was really worried. At this time, most people believed that once you got married, you had to have a child. If not, it was seen as something terrible.
Tang Guo didn’t plan to correct Luo Chunli’s mindset. That kind of thinking was deeply rooted and not easily changed.
She cooperated with Luo Chunli on the checkups just to ease her mind, so she wouldn’t suspect that something was wrong with her or Song Ye physically.
Now that they knew there were no physical issues, but still no child, Luo Chunli could only chalk it up to fate not having arrived yet.
But thinking of what those wives said, that when a man’s status rises and he becomes wealthy, there would be more women circling around him. How could she not worry?
Even with Tang Shouguo, she still wasn’t entirely at ease.
Not long ago, she had seen a young girl throwing flirtatious glances at Tang Shouguo. Fortunately, he wasn’t tempted. Otherwise, even if the girl were the county magistrate, she’d still break her legs.
“Mom, did you hear something?”
Tang Guo looked at Luo Chunli’s uneasy expression and asked, “Who said something to you?” She didn’t really associate with those wives. It wasn’t necessary and was a waste of time. She’d rather spend her free time with her Ah Ye going around the mountains.
“Guo Guo, Mom is just worried. Xiao Ye is so excellent and there are so many people watching him. If you two keep not having a child, who knows what rumors might start. Some vixen is bound to start scheming.”
Tang Guo understood Luo Chunli’s concern, but she wasn’t worried. “Ah Ye wouldn’t dare.”
“Hey…” Her daughter was really confident.
But looking at her daughter’s beautiful face, even as her mother, she could stare for a long time and still be captivated. Come to think of it, those vixens really couldn’t compare to her precious daughter.
“Mom, who told you?”
Luo Chunli answered truthfully, “A lot of people have been talking. When I was recently meeting with some folks from Tangjia Village, Ding Yuzhen pulled me aside and specifically brought this up.”
“Ding Yuzhen?” Tang Guo narrowed her eyes. Wasn’t that Chen Ying’s mother?
It was worth mentioning that Chen Fangfang, now twenty-two, still wasn’t married. Back then, it was because she was unwilling regarding Xie Shijun, and now it was because Tangjia Village had become Tang County. The people there were wealthy and their status had risen. She got picky and didn’t like any of the many elite suitors.
Besides, in this day and age, not getting married at twenty-two was no longer a big deal.
Luo Chunli’s face turned a bit unpleasant. “Ding Yuzhen even said that if you two still don’t have a child, many people will start targeting Xiao Ye.” She spat. “That Chen Fangfang, remember her? When I saw her before, she was so warm and friendly. I thought the girl had grown up and learned to be respectful. But it turns out she was actually asking around about Xiao Ye.”
“Guo Guo, can’t you see what that little vixen is up to?”
This was what truly made Luo Chunli anxious. She wasn’t worried about Song Ye’s intentions, but all the vixens outside. If they couldn’t succeed, they’d still stir up trouble and disgust everyone.
