“Dear disciple, why are you calling this poor monk?”
“Master, come back quickly. Those little ghosts are making trouble in the temple again. We can’t suppress them anymore. They’re flipping things over and jumping around in the rooms like fools.”
“Master, save your disciples. How could you go watch the excitement alone and leave your poor disciples in the temple?”
Tang Guo heard several young voices on the other end and looked at Mingxuan with a subtle expression.
This old monk was not very serious.
Sensing her gaze, Mingxuan coughed lightly and lowered his voice. “Alright, I’m coming back soon. I’ve only been gone a short while and you can’t manage. How did I end up with such useless disciples?”
“Master, there are hundreds of ghosts and only a few of us. How can we suppress them? You’re talking without understanding our situation.”
“Alright, alright. Don’t be angry. I’ll be back soon.”
After hanging up, Mingxuan smiled and cupped his hands toward Tang Guo. “I heard that Benefactor Tang possesses a complete Rebirth Sutra and certain methods to help little ghosts pass on and open the Gate of Reincarnation?”
“Yes,” Tang Guo replied. She now understood why the old monk had spoken in her favor from the start.
Mingxuan’s smile widened. “Benefactor Tang’s Buddhist cultivation is profound. I truly admire it. To be honest, there are several hundred troublesome little ghosts in my temple. However, they are all wandering souls with fragmented memories and have never committed evil. The Rebirth Sutra I have learned is incomplete, and I cannot send them into reincarnation.
“So I would like to ask Benefactor Tang to teach me the complete Rebirth Sutra and the method to open the Gate of Reincarnation. I know this request is difficult, but I still wish to try.”
“No problem.”
Tang Guo agreed readily. “However, I have a condition.”
Mingxuan’s smile nearly faltered. He quickly steadied himself. “Please speak.”
“I’m about to take care of some matters. I’ll trouble Master Mingxuan to help send those little ghosts on afterward. How about it?”
Mingxuan’s face twitched. As expected, this female ghost was not easy to deal with. She wanted to drag him into it.
But for the sake of the Rebirth Sutra, he nodded. “This poor monk agrees.”
“Master Mingxuan need not worry. You only need to watch from the side. You don’t have to take action. Just handle what comes after.”
Mingxuan felt like crying. Was there really a difference?
Watching Tang Guo enter the small mountain village, he did not follow. Instead, he took out his phone and called his disciples. “I’ll be back later. Yes, Benefactor Tang has agreed.” Hearing the cheers from his disciples, Mingxuan smiled again.
Looking at the resentment hanging heavily over the village, he shook his head. Right and wrong, good and evil, were never so clearly calculated.
When Tang Guo came out, there was an additional translucent scripture in her hand. Before Mingxuan could react, it floated directly into his mind.
In an instant, he understood the entire content of the scripture. His gaze toward Tang Guo changed again.
This female ghost was indeed not someone to provoke.
He voluntarily entered the village and began to send those unjust souls onward.
As for the men who had been crippled, he did not interfere. He focused solely on sending the little ghosts into reincarnation.
Year after year passed. Those terrifying small mountain villages became fewer and fewer.
Gradually, not only did the metaphysical circle know of a female ghost named Tang Guo, but the ordinary world also began to hear her legend.
People grew curious about her and speculated about her purpose.
Each time another trafficking case was exposed, their feelings toward that female ghost shifted from fear to admiration.
