“High Priest, many members are ill. Please help treat them,” Black Wolf said as well. In their current condition, the sick members could not continue traveling.
He was also unsure when the Mata Kingdom would expose their deception and realize that Ah Guoguo was not Ning Luo.
Once Ah Guoguo’s identity was revealed, given the Mata Kingdom king’s temperament, he would definitely send a large force of warriors to intercept them. Not only would they kill their members and seize their food and females, he would also lose Ning Luo forever.
“Why did the chieftain not stop it?” Yin Yao asked coldly.
Black Wolf did not dare meet Yin Yao’s gaze. His eyes fell instead on the frightened Ning Luo. “Ning Luo is very important to the tribe. Everyone believes she should stay.”
“The Mata Kingdom wanted Ning Luo, not Ah Guoguo. Why did you let Ah Guoguo take Ning Luo’s place?” Yin Yao asked.
Before anyone could answer, he continued, “Ning Luo is important to the tribe? She is important to you as well, Chieftain, isn’t she?”
Black Wolf did not deny it. Ning Luo truly was important to him, so important that she surpassed even his own life. For Ning Luo’s sake, he had violated his principles and abandoned Ah Guoguo. When had he forgotten the promise he once made to wait for Ah Guoguo to grow up? When had his eyes come to hold only Ning Luo? He did not know. He only knew that when forced to choose, he would choose Ning Luo. He could not lose her.
Yin Yao’s eyes reddened. “So in your eyes, Ah Guoguo is not important to the tribe?”
No one dared to speak. The one questioning them was not Aoli, but the High Priest, someone they could not defy. Only with the High Priest present could their members be treated for illness and injury.
Yin Yao slowly swept his gaze across the Lado Tribe members. “You have forgotten who discovered the mountain caves, who came up with the way to deal with the beast tide. You have also forgotten who that blade in the chieftain’s hand belongs to.”
“You have forgotten that without Ah Guoguo, the Lado Tribe would never have lived safely in the caves for months. You would never have survived the terrifying beast tide without losing a single member. And yet, at the critical moment, you abandoned her.”
“And you even say she is not important, that she cannot compare to Ning Luo, is that it?”
Yin Yao smiled, the expression filled with sorrow. “Now I understand why Ah Guoguo never wanted to be close to you. The only one she could truly befriend was Aoli.”
“Because when it mattered most, only Aoli did not abandon Ah Guoguo, and even chose to leave the Lado Tribe for her sake.”
“Ah Guoguo truly is the most intelligent female.”
Yin Yao looked toward the distance, in the direction of the Mata Kingdom. With a faint smile, he suddenly transformed into a snow white wolf and leapt toward that direction. His speed was like lightning. Before anyone could react, he had vanished into the forest. His voice carried back through the trees and reached their ears.
“Since you have abandoned Ah Guoguo, I will abandon you. I am going to find my Ah Guoguo. She must miss me very much, and I miss her as well.”
Yin Yao’s sudden departure left the Lado Tribe members stunned and panicked. The High Priest was gone. Who would treat their illnesses and injuries now? So many cubs were still sick.
“High Priest, High Priest, how can you just leave?”
“For the sake of one Ah Guoguo, is this really necessary?”
“Yes, must we really sacrifice the entire Lado Tribe just for Ah Guoguo?”
Fortunately, Yin Yao could no longer hear these words.
