Members of the various tribes all tensed up, watching the ferocious beasts charge toward them, their entire bodies taut.
Even though many traps had been dug, there was no guarantee that they could deal with every beast. But at this point, there was no way to retreat.
The members of the Lado Tribe, along with those of the other two tribes, were all prepared at any moment to fight the beasts.
The beasts charged forward at terrifying speed. Facing those ferocious, surging figures, not a single member dared to relax.
As the beasts were about to rush into the deep pits they had dug, everyone held their breath. Even Ning Luo was hiding inside the cave, peering outside through a crack.
Back then, a single beast had nearly torn her apart. Watching the scene outside now, if not for their thorough preparations and the male Beastmen blocking the front, she might truly have been scared out of her wits on the spot.
The calmest among them was Tang Guo. Although those beasts were frenzied and could locate the Beastmen’s position, their intelligence was still low.
If their intelligence were high, they would not be charging around like this. Some beasts crashed into obstacles, smashing their own heads bloody. Some even died from the impact alone. This showed just how little intelligence they possessed.
This wave of beasts was not all of them. The remaining beasts must have charged toward other places where Beastmen were present.
The deep pits were enough to deal with the current wave. By the time the beasts elsewhere reacted, the beasts that had fallen into the pits here could already be cleared out.
“Ah Guoguo really has become much braver,” Yin Yao said. He still did not release her, instead holding her even tighter. In truth, every time he held her and was close to her, he had an illusion that this was exactly how they were meant to be.
“Because I believe the method I came up with will definitely make those stupid beasts fall in.”
Yin Yao smiled. “Yes. Ah Guoguo is a very wise female Beastman.” He had never seen a female more intelligent than Ah Guoguo. Only she could catch his attention and make him briefly forget about searching for the secret of the Beast Tide.
“Ah Guoguo, I will wait until you come of age.”
Tang Guo laughed softly. “Alright, High Priest.”
Suddenly, waves of miserable screams rang out, forcing the two of them to look down. The frenzied beasts that had charged forward indeed fell into the deep pits.
The pits were very deep, with sharpened wooden stakes inside. Falling from such a height, the beasts were pierced straight through by the sharp stakes. The more they struggled, the deeper the stakes pierced.
With more beasts continuously falling in from behind, those at the bottom had no chance of survival.
The watching tribe members saw the once terrifying beasts fall one after another into the pits, followed by piercing screams.
They did not feel fear. Instead, after confirming that the beasts truly fell into the pits and that none had rushed through yet, they raised their sharpened wooden stakes and cheered.
That wave of beasts fell into the pits just like that. Even among the dumbest beasts, a few were clever. The remaining dozen or so did not intend to charge through the massive pit.
Seeing their companions die so miserably, some with stakes deeply embedded in their bodies, they glanced toward the distant mountain, sniffed the air, and under the stunned gazes of the Beastmen, turned and fled wildly in another direction.
“They’re heading for the back mountain,” Black Wolf said grimly. “Get up the mountain. Push the rolling stones down before they rush up.”
