In the afternoon, Tang Guo was lying in the cave sleeping when she suddenly heard a noisy commotion outside. She opened her eyes and walked out, only to see a tall female beastman standing with her eyebrows raised, glaring at Ning Luo who stood alone to the side.
The female beastman was surrounded by other members, and the way they looked at Ning Luo was quite hostile.
This female beastman had just come of age and hadn’t yet entered her heat period. She had always liked the strong Gaien of the tribe.
A few days ago, she went to a neighboring tribe, and to her surprise, upon returning today, she heard that Gaien had taken a mate. And it was a mate of unknown origin, looking all skinny and frail, someone who could be crushed with just a finger.
This female beastman was the one everyone had mentioned before. Her name was Aoli.
She liked Gaien, but Gaien didn’t like her and always avoided her.
Aoli’s appearance was unanimously considered the most beautiful among the beastmen. She looked very strong but not bulky, instead having a kind of athletic beauty. Because she was young, her skin hadn’t sagged either. Aoli loved beauty and would make pretty skirts out of animal bones and hides to wear.
Many male beastmen, while thinking Ah Guoguo looked delicate and evoked a protective instinct, actually preferred to choose females like Aoli.
Because she appeared powerful and healthy, the offspring she bore would surely be strong as well.
In this primitive beastman era, males valued females mostly for possession and reproduction. Of course, good looks were a bonus, but the most important thing was a strong body. Whether during an enemy attack or in the face of danger, survival chances were much higher.
Aoli liked Gaien not because of the human concept of love, but because Gaien was strong. She liked a powerful male and believed such a male was worthy to be her mate.
Although Gaien wasn’t the tribe’s first warrior, Aoli was self-aware enough to know that with her abilities, she could not win the favor of the first warrior. That first warrior had also clearly stated he would wait for Ah Guoguo to come of age.
Back then, during the tribe’s chaos, Ah Guoguo’s parents died protecting the tribe. It was they who had saved Aoli, so she would never compete with Ah Guoguo for a mate.
The strongest warrior in the tribe now is Black Wolf, the one who previously said he would wait for Ah Guoguo to come of age. He is also the leader of this tribe.
In this era, if not for Ning Luo’s appearance, the concept of love would never have arisen.
Even the former Ah Guoguo initially admired Yin Yao only because of his strength. His high status and ability to heal members were what made him strong.
Later, with Ning Luo’s arrival, Ah Guoguo’s feelings toward Yin Yao grew into fondness, which is why she hid his discarded tortoise shell and carried it with her.
Ning Luo brought many things to this tribe, but in the end, not many survived. When Ning Luo unified the Beastman Nation, the only ones who lived from beginning to end were her and her mates.
“You’re so skinny, and Gaien is so strong, you’re not worthy of him at all,” Aoli said haughtily. Her eyes kept scanning Ning Luo, lingering on the necklace around her neck without moving away.
She had never seen such a beautiful necklace and liked it at first glance, but she, Aoli, the most beautiful female in the tribe, would never covet a weakling’s necklace.
“Which tribe are you from? If you know what’s good for you, go back to your own tribe.”
Ning Luo pressed her lips together. In front of a group of female beastmen, she appeared weak and helpless. Then she suddenly caught sight of Tang Guo, who was sitting off to the side watching the show.
