The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 94

“I truly admire you. You clearly hate my grandfather’s family to the core, yet you still have the nerve to spend my mother’s dowry, support your mistress and illegitimate children, and then, when your company runs into trouble, you rush over here like a fly that smells blood. And now you even have the nerve to speak so self-righteously. Don’t you have any shame?”

Jiang Chan’s words were utterly ruthless. The few girls on the stairs had stars in their eyes, eager to rush down and cheer Jiang Chan on.

“Don’t take everyone for a fool. You’ve mistreated my mother for so many years, and that debt hasn’t even been properly settled yet. Where do you get the nerve to make such a request now?”

The more Jiang Chan spoke, the more twisted Jiang Yu’s expression became. He shot to his feet. “What kind of upbringing is this? Is this how you talk to your elders?”

Jiang Chan stood up as well, not backing down. “People say that if a child isn’t taught well, it’s the father’s fault. My mother gave birth to me and raised me, but if I wasn’t taught properly, isn’t that your failing? Who do you think you are to yell at me here?”

“You!”

Seeing the two of them locked in a fierce standoff, Lin Yuanshan felt a sense of satisfaction. Just based on Jiang Chan’s fearless demeanor, he was convinced that her future prospects would be impressive.

He tugged Jiang Chan’s sleeve. “Alright, a guest is a guest. Why argue with an outsider? There’s no need to lose your composure. I’m still clear-headed enough to know what should and shouldn’t be done. Go back to your studies, I’ll handle this.”

Jiang Chan was unwilling. “I’d better stay with you. What if he, like a cornered dog, gets desperate and lashes out?”

Jiang Yu’s expression turned ferocious at being compared to a dog.

The old man’s lips curled into a faint smile. “Enough with your antics, Mr. Jiang. I really can’t help you with this request. Flies don’t land on eggs without cracks. Since the auditors are still hanging around, they must have already found something.”

“For us businesspeople, the most important thing is to follow the rules and regulations. This is something I truly can’t help you with.”

Who doesn’t know how to play Tai Chi1? Especially an old fox like Lin Yuanshan. Regardless of Jiang Yu’s purpose in coming today, he was determined not to agree. What a joke. He wanted to specifically make things uncomfortable for Jiang Yu. How could he possibly step in to help him at a time like this?

If he didn’t strip Jiang Yu of two layers of skin, it would be considered lenient. Seeing Lin Yuanshan handling Jiang Yu with ease, Jiang Chan relaxed.

She sipped her tea and nibbled on snacks, watching Jiang Yu flail around like a petty clown. Seeing him in his current state, Jiang Chan couldn’t deny the immense satisfaction it brought her.

Jiang Yu’s eyes darted around. Realizing this route wouldn’t work, he tried a different approach. “Xiao Chan is my daughter, after all. It’s not appropriate to keep troubling you. Why don’t I take her home with me?”

As long as Jiang Chan went back with him, he had plenty of ways to deal with her!

Lin Yuanshan didn’t even lift his eyelids. “Your company’s issues are so pressing. How could you have the time to look after Xiao Chan? She and I get along well, so she’ll stay here with me.”

“Dad, this is too much trouble for you…” Jiang Yu tried to persist.

Lin Yuanshan responded bluntly, “Why don’t you take care of the mess you’ve got on your hands first? Xiao Chan is doing just fine here with me. At least this way, she doesn’t have to go back and put up with your current wife’s attitude.”

Once Jiang Yu left in defeat, the girls upstairs erupted in excitement and flocked around Jiang Chan. Shen Yu, eager to please, was already massaging her shoulders and back.

“Sister Chan, you’re so amazing!”

“Exactly! I was so nervous just watching!”

“You’re incredible!”

Showered with these girls’ over-the-top compliments, even someone as composed as Jiang Chan couldn’t help but feel a bit flattered. She cleared her throat lightly and said, “Alright, weren’t you all studying? Why did you all come down here?”

They had been upstairs watching the drama with such enthusiasm that Jiang Chan could even hear their barely concealed gasps.

Shen Yu grinned and shoved Li Yan forward. “It’s all Li Yan’s fault! She noticed you hadn’t come back after going downstairs to get water, so she came to check.”

Li Yan complained, “You always push me out whenever something happens. If you’re so brave, why don’t you all stay out of it?”

Annoyed by the girls’ noisy chatter, Lin Yuanshan waved his hand. “Go on, go on, back upstairs. Stop bothering this old man.”

The girls giggled and went back up. Watching Jiang Chan, now surrounded by friends, Lin Yuanshan smiled in satisfaction. He had once thought Jiang Chan was withdrawn, but now, seeing her with so many good friends, he finally felt at ease.

Once Jiang Chan and the others were gone, Lin Yuanshan’s expression darkened. To be honest, Jiang Yu’s visit was expected, though the timing was earlier than anticipated. This meant Jiang Yu’s company was in serious trouble.

Since the matter was grave, there was no way Lin Yuanshan would step in. Instead, he planned to seize the opportunity to secure what rightfully belonged to Jiang Chan.

Jiang Chan didn’t pay much attention to what happened next. Suddenly, one morning, Lin Jinyu handed her a card, saying it was the return on the investment Lin Wan had made in Jiang Yu over the years.

Jiang Chan took some time to take a look. It was 20 million. She had no idea how Jiang Yu managed to scrape it together, but who cared about that? As long as the money was real and in her hands, that was all that mattered.

With one blow after another, Jiang Yu’s company shrank considerably. Once a mid-sized enterprise, it was now a small business.

Jiang Chan consulted Lin Jinyu on how to acquire Jiang Yu’s company. Following his advice, she stayed in the background and hired someone to purchase shares in Jiang Yu’s business.

When she held the majority of the shares, she could drive Jiang Yu out, and the company would naturally fall into her hands.

Time passed slowly, and before long, summer vacation arrived. After finishing her schoolwork, Jiang Chan decided to intern at Lin Enterprises, taking on the position of Lin Jinyu’s assistant.

In the workplace, Lin Jinyu was strict. Even the smallest mistakes were pointed out without mercy, showing her no leniency whatsoever.

One time, Lin Qiao happened to see this and couldn’t help but be a little stunned. Was his son being too strict?

However, strict teachers produce outstanding students. By the end of summer, Jiang Chan already carried a faint resemblance to Lin Jinyu. She had become sharp, efficient, and difficult for others to fool easily.

Wherever she went, people couldn’t help but give her a thumbs-up, praising the Lin family for their ability to nurture talent. Even someone so young could already handle things independently.
