The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 217

Jiang Chan gave the herbs a brief glance. In the past, she would certainly have stopped to gather them, but right now, something else was more important. The herbs could wait.

“Our most important task right now is to find Feng Qiwu as quickly as possible. Ideally, we should find her before sunset. Today is the last day. I’m worried that if we don’t find her, we might have to remain in this secret realm for thirty years.”

Jiang Chan was brief and to the point. As soon as she entered the secret realm, she felt her cultivation being suppressed, which left her deeply uncomfortable.

Mo Yu shook her head. “I’m really not used to this. My body suddenly feels so much heavier.”

“Forget about that. I placed Soul-Tracking Incense on Feng Qiwu. Follow me, and let’s pick up the pace.”

Jiang Chan was a cautious person. How could she possibly have failed to prepare? She had specially prepared this Soul-Tracking Incense for Feng Qiwu and Mo Yu so that she could find them if they became separated.

“This way. Feng Qiwu passed through here.” Jiang Chan sniffed. This was where Xiao Jin’s extraordinary natural talent came in handy. No matter how long ago Feng Qiwu had passed through a place, as long as she had been there, Jiang Chan could detect her scent.

With their cultivation suppressed, both of them moved much more slowly. Even using her wind abilities, Jiang Chan could only pull Mo Yu along at half their usual speed.

They had entered at around four in the afternoon and needed to leave before midnight. There was very little time.

After flying continuously for two hours, Jiang Chan could sense that Feng Qiwu had passed through many places, yet there was still no sign of her. Even Jiang Chan could no longer remain calm. Were they really going to have to stay here for thirty years?

The Heavenly Gate secret realm was enormous. After traveling and stopping repeatedly, they finally spotted a great hall ahead. Although its doors looked somewhat dilapidated, Jiang Chan immediately perked up.

“Let’s hurry over. I can sense Feng Qiwu inside, but something puzzles me. Why is Thousand-Thread Vine nearby?”

Jiang Chan frowned. She had not seen Gu Miao’er among the cultivators who entered. Why could she sense Thousand-Thread Vine here? When had Gu Miao’er entered?

If Gu Miao’er was inside the secret realm, it would explain why Feng Qiwu and the others had failed to leave on time. That was the female lead’s halo for you. Everyone who encountered her suffered.

Inside the great hall, Gu Miao’er was staring intently at a jade pendant above her, seemingly trying with all her strength to refine it. Feng Qiwu stood opposite her. The two were locked in a stalemate, each struggling to refine the jade pendant first.

Tang Yubai stood beside Gu Miao’er, protecting her while transferring his true essence to her whenever her strength faltered. Seeing that neither side could gain the upper hand, Tang Yubai secretly formed a hand seal and flicked it toward Feng Qiwu.

Both sides were locked in a struggle. Any outside interference would certainly cause the other side to fail. Feng Qiwu was on her own. How could she fend off Tang Yubai’s covert attack?

Just as the fire dragon was about to reach Feng Qiwu’s side, a slender hand blocked it and sent it back.

Mo Yu appeared beside Feng Qiwu in a flash. She swiftly formed a hand seal, pushed the fire dragon aside, and immediately unleashed an ice blade.

It shot straight toward Tang Yubai’s chest. The moment Mo Yu diverted his fire dragon, Tang Yubai knew something was wrong. Before he could react, however, the ice blade was already upon him.

Tang Yubai grunted and collapsed, immediately spitting out a mouthful of blood. Without Tang Yubai supplying her with true essence, Gu Miao’er was no match for Feng Qiwu.

In less than three seconds, Feng Qiwu beckoned lightly, and the jade pendant fell into her hand. Gu Miao’er stumbled backward two steps and fell beside Tang Yubai.

She glared at Jiang Chan and the others. Had Jiang Chan and Mo Yu not suddenly appeared, the jade pendant would already be hers. The moment she saw it, her instincts had told her that it was something valuable and that she had to obtain it!

Things had indeed unfolded as she had expected. Just when everything was going smoothly, Jiang Chan and Mo Yu had appeared. The jade pendant that should have belonged to her was now in someone else’s hands.

Gu Miao’er could no longer maintain her composure. Looking at Jiang Chan and Mo Yu, she said, “Aren’t you two seniors being rather biased? This opportunity originally belonged to me. Why did you interfere?”

Only after seeing that Feng Qiwu was unharmed did Jiang Chan relax. Having put away the jade pendant, Feng Qiwu was also somewhat exhausted and immediately sat down to meditate and recover. Jiang Chan handed her a bottle of Essence-Restoring Pills, which Feng Qiwu accepted without hesitation.

Mo Yu curled her lips in amusement. “Little girl, if this had been a fair contest or a matter of everyone relying on their own abilities to seize an opportunity, we wouldn’t have interfered at all. What exactly was that kid trying to accomplish by launching a sneak attack?”

Tang Yubai clutched his chest and slowly sat up. Mo Yu smiled. “Since ancient times, opportunities have belonged to those destined to obtain them. Without that kid helping you, could you have held out against my martial niece for so long?”

“So you’re allowed to gang up on someone, but we aren’t? Apparently, you think the rules only apply to other people.”

Seeing that there was still some time before midnight, Jiang Chan was willing to have a proper talk with Gu Miao’er. She was curious about how Gu Miao’er and Tang Yubai had gotten here. Wasn’t the entrance to the Heavenly Gate secret realm over here?

Jiang Chan slowly stepped forward and flicked her fingers repeatedly. Gu Miao’er and Tang Yubai immediately became dazed. A golden light flashed in Jiang Chan’s eyes. “Tell me, where did you enter the secret realm?”

Tang Yubai’s cultivation was higher, and his willpower was naturally stronger than Gu Miao’er’s. He was still resisting the Soul-Captivation Formation. Gu Miao’er, however, could not withstand it. “We were training outside and accidentally stepped into a teleportation gate…”

Having obtained the answer she wanted, Jiang Chan nodded in satisfaction.

“Why did you want that jade pendant?”

“My intuition told me it was something good.” Seeing Gu Miao’er’s blank expression, Jiang Chan sighed inwardly. She truly was Heaven’s beloved daughter. Even though Jiang Chan had planted Thousand-Thread Vine inside her, Heaven was still finding ways to deliver treasures right into her path.

There was nothing more to learn from Gu Miao’er. Jiang Chan snapped her fingers, and Gu Miao’er collapsed. Tang Yubai, who had been struggling to hold on, also wore a conflicted expression. He had probably fallen into the grip of his inner demon.

Without even looking at the two people on the floor, Jiang Chan saw that Feng Qiwu had recovered some strength. “Let’s go. There’s nothing more to ask. We’ve learned everything we need to know.”
