The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 200

“I don’t have a choice. If I had fighting strength like yours, I’d slack off too. A well-fed person doesn’t understand a hungry person’s suffering.” Jiang Chan was helpless too. Who did not want to take it easy? Who wanted to live like an ascetic?

But her strength did not permit it. Those who fell behind would be beaten, especially in a place like the forest of magical beasts, where the strong preyed on the weak. If she had not worked harder, she would have lost her little life long ago.

Jiang Chan and Mo Yu had arrived at just the right time. Of course, Jiang Chan had timed their arrival deliberately. In Xiao Jin’s memories, Feng Qiwu came to patrol the marketplace today. Jiang Chan needed to find an opportunity to get acquainted with her.

She had no intention of openly staying by Feng Qiwu’s side. It would be best if she could follow her in secret, which would also conceal her better. But first, she had to see Feng Qiwu.

A quarter of an hour later, Mo Yu sat beside a second-floor window in a restaurant, looking at Jiang Chan, who kept resting her chin in her hand and staring down below. “Who exactly are you looking for? Your eyes haven’t stopped moving. I don’t believe you came out here for fun. It looks more like you have some purpose.”

“You noticed? Ah, it’s just a personal matter. Let me find the person first.” Jiang Chan was not surprised that Mo Yu had noticed. Although Mo Yu was rather quiet, she was very perceptive.

“Alright, take your time looking.” Mo Yu had no intention of prying into Jiang Chan’s private affairs either. This fellow would naturally speak when she wanted to. As she spoke, Mo Yu speared a piece of pastry and narrowed her eyes in satisfaction.

Only after coming out had she discovered so many delicious things. What on earth had she been eating in the forest of magical beasts before? Mo Yu ate bite after bite, wishing she could make up for everything she had missed over the past few hundred years.

She did not try to save Jiang Chan money either. She knew Jiang Chan was exceptionally gifted. How could a Treasure-Hunting Mouse have no money? Watching Mo Yu feast, Jiang Chan’s lips curved slightly. Her companion seemed to like the things here very much. They could come often in the future.

Suddenly, a figure in white passed in front of the restaurant, and Jiang Chan’s eyes widened. What was going on? That female cultivator wore white magical robes, her skirts fluttering, looking particularly fresh and otherworldly.

Looking at her face, she appeared delicate and timid, making people want to pity her. Wasn’t this Gu Miao’er of the Yunshui Sect? Why had she come here? She looked as though she was searching for something too.

At the sight of Gu Miao’er, Jiang Chan frowned. Having experienced more worlds, she preferred to steer clear of innocent little flowers like Gu Miao’er.

Moreover, she knew from Xiao Jin’s memories that Gu Miao’er possessed tremendous fortune, and anyone who opposed her came to a bad end. Jiang Chan was all the more determined to keep her distance.

Of course, if she could kill Gu Miao’er before she grew stronger, that would be even better. After all, Xiao Jin’s wish was to take revenge on her.

Tapping her fingers on the table, Jiang Chan kept her eyes on Gu Miao’er. What was going on with this Gu Miao’er? In Xiao Jin’s memories, she had not come to this marketplace. Had something changed?

A sudden commotion arose at the marketplace entrance. Seeing the cultivators from the Spirit Beast Pavilion there, Gu Miao’er’s eyes lit up. It seemed that dream was true. The Spirit Beast Pavilion’s people really had returned today.

Forcing herself to remain composed, Gu Miao’er hurried over. The Spirit Beast Pavilion’s beast-catching team had barely entered the marketplace before being surrounded. Everyone wanted to see what the pavilion had brought back this time.

Cultivators were curious too. If they spotted a spirit beast they liked now, they could buy it on the spot, avoiding competition from others later.

As she watched Gu Miao’er struggle into the crowded throng, Jiang Chan’s gaze darkened considerably. It now seemed that Gu Miao’er was deliberately waiting here for her quarry. How had she known the Spirit Beast Pavilion’s beast-catching team would return today?

Could this be another person who knew the future? Remembering Qin Fen’s and Song Miao’s unusual behavior in the previous world, Jiang Chan suddenly had a bold suspicion. Could Gu Miao’er have been reborn too?

Was this leaving a mouse any chance to survive? Jiang Chan was speechless. She had known Qingyuan was a terrible swindler. A female lead with tremendous fortune, who had also been reborn. How was she supposed to avenge Xiao Jin?

After squeezing into the crowd, Gu Miao’er quickly scanned the cages holding the spirit beasts. Failing to see that thin little mouse, she looked up in disappointment. “Don’t you have any mouse-type spirit beasts? Small and black, with a golden line on the forehead.”

The cultivator at the head of the group smiled. “We didn’t find any mouse-type spirit beasts this time. Fairy, what kind of spirit beast would you like?”

Gu Miao’er searched repeatedly. Only after confirming that there really was none did she force a smile. “I just want, want a mouse-type spirit beast for company. Senior Brother, could you keep an eye out for one next time?”

The cultivator naturally thumped his chest in assurance. Why turn down business that came to his door? Gu Miao’er left the crowd in disappointment. It seemed this dream was unreliable. How could a Treasure-Hunting Mouse be so easy to find?

Jiang Chan’s cultivation was profound, and her hearing was good. She heard everything Gu Miao’er and the cultivator said. Seeing Mo Yu still eating without a care, she tugged at her. “I have something to take care of. Wait here. I’ll be back in an hour.”

With her cheeks stuffed full, Mo Yu waved at Jiang Chan. “What about spirit stones? What am I supposed to eat if you don’t give me any?”

Helplessly, Jiang Chan took out a handful of spirit stones and handed them to her. “Show a little restraint. If you keep eating like this, I won’t be able to afford to feed you.”

Mo Yu scoffed. “You’re rolling in wealth, and you’re worried you can’t afford to feed me?”

Jiang Chan glared at her. “Alright, don’t wander off. You don’t know this place. It would be bad if something happened.”

Mo Yu stopped looking at her. Jiang Chan glanced at her companion, who had eyes only for food, and the corner of her mouth twitched. In a flash, she headed out of the marketplace, in exactly the direction Gu Miao’er had just taken.

Taking a moment from her eating to glance at Jiang Chan’s retreating back, Mo Yu muttered, “Weirdo. So secretive.”

Although Jiang Chan had coaxed her out here, Mo Yu was enjoying herself. Jiang Chan supplied her with delicious food and drink and even gave her spirit stones to spend. Mo Yu felt she could accept Jiang Chan’s little secrets.

As long as those little secrets had nothing to do with her, that was fine. She was easygoing about it. Knowing Jiang Chan’s abilities, she figured that with her own thick skin and tough flesh, there was nothing about her worth scheming for.

Jiang Chan: Who says so? I’m quite envious of your ability to fight and withstand attacks. I don’t need you now, but there will always be a time for you to take the stage!

After leaving the marketplace, Gu Miao’er casually released a cloud-shaped magical artifact. This was an artifact used exclusively by inner disciples of the Yunshui Sect, recognizable to cultivators at a glance. It was essentially standard equipment for Yunshui Sect disciples, designed to look as ethereal and immortal-like as possible.

Jiang Chan examined Gu Miao’er’s cultivation. She had just entered the Foundation Establishment stage, so it seemed she was seventeen this year. But her cultivation was unstable. Apparently, she had not tempered it sufficiently.
