The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 176

The three days of the college entrance examination passed in a flash. When Jiang Chan walked out after finishing, she felt refreshed. Once she submitted her university preferences, she and Song Miao would truly part ways. With the task nearly complete, a faint smile appeared in her eyes.

Thinking that she would soon be able to return, her steps grew lighter. She decided to submit the task after filling out her application. It was best to see things through properly. Although she was tempted by the computer science program and almost wished she could attend university here as well.

Most of Jiang Chan’s obsessions revolved around learning. Acquiring skills. In this world, aside from gaining the friendship of Qin Fen and Wu You, she had also received care from Jiang’s parents.

At the same time, she had accumulated competition experience in every subject except information science and learned a great deal about software programming. Overall, her gains in this world were substantial.

Although Qingyuan had judged this task to be difficult, Jiang Chan felt it had gone smoothly. It was almost effortless, one success after another.

She thought time would continue in this calm manner. Yet accidents often arrived without warning.

The exam scores were released quickly. As expected, Jiang Chan once again claimed the title of provincial top scorer. When excellence became a habit, it became addictive. Only staying at the top gave her even a slight sense of achievement.

Top scorers always drew attention, especially after Jiang Chan’s appearance was revealed. With her refined features and tall figure, though still slightly youthful, one could already see the gentle elegance she would later possess.

She instantly became popular online. Her experiences over the past few years were uncovered, and many of her previous photos surfaced on the internet.

Jiang Chan simply stayed at home. She had always been somewhat of a homebody. Tinkering with robots and writing programs suited her well. Life felt comfortable, lacking only a dog.

Speaking of dogs, Jiang Chan raised an eyebrow. The original owner had been so introverted. Perhaps a lively pet would be suitable.

Within two days, a three month old husky puppy followed her around.

The little husky was lively, already showing signs of becoming a master at dismantling things.

Naming was simple. She called it Xiao Ha. After being called a few times, the puppy learned that the name referred to him.

Jiang’s parents were puzzled. Given their second son’s temperament, they had expected him to choose a calm or gentle breed. Why a husky that looked so mischievous?

Jiang Chan curved her lips, unwilling to admit that choosing Xiao Ha was partly for her own amusement.

Everyone in the family adored Xiao Ha. Jiang’s father even volunteered to take him out for daily walks. He was now a dog owner.

While others boasted about grandchildren, he walked a dog. Yet whenever he saw Xiao Ha’s bright blue eyes, his faint melancholy disappeared.

Children would have their own destinies. They would simply enjoy their later years. As for the elder son’s marriage, that was his own concern.

With a sigh, Jiang’s father threw a frisbee. Xiao Ha dashed after it, attempted a sharp turn, missed, and rolled several times across the grass.

Soon it was time to submit university applications. Everything was done online. Jiang Chan selected Capital University’s computer science department. Her score easily qualified.

Within two weeks, her admission letter arrived.

With the letter in hand, she prepared to submit the task. But something disrupted her plan.

Most students in Class One had performed well, and many met first tier admission lines. The group chat buzzed with excitement. Everyone suggested gathering for a joint teacher appreciation banquet instead of hosting separate ones.

Jiang Chan agreed. Jiang’s parents had long wanted to host a banquet in celebration, but she had insisted on waiting until the admission letter arrived.

Since her classmates proposed it, she would attend.

At six in the evening, Jiang Chan and Qin Fen headed to Sheng Tang. Qin Fen had also scored well. He planned to inherit the family company and had applied for business management at Capital University.

Once in university, he would study while interning at the company. By graduation, it would likely be handed over to him.

Though he had matured over the past two years, Qin Fen still had moments of exuberance. Draping an arm over her shoulder, he said, “After the banquet, let’s travel together. A few of our basketball friends are going too. We’re heading to XZ.”

He gestured animatedly.

Jiang Chan nodded. “Sure. I’ve never been there. I’ve heard LS has particularly blue skies.”

She sighed. Perhaps she could submit the task after returning from XZ. Since the original owner had been a homebody, she might as well take this opportunity to explore.

With her outstanding results, Jiang’s parents rewarded her with a car. She had already obtained her driver’s license. Preferring something understated, she chose a steady model.

It was expensive. As a student, her programming income would not even cover a wheel.

Seeing the car gave Qin Fen slight unease. His accident in his previous life had involved reckless driving. Driving himself was out of the question. He immediately slid into the passenger seat.

Jiang Chan raised an eyebrow. Coward.

She did not bother arguing with Qin Fen and started the car. After driving for only a few minutes, a furry head suddenly popped up from the back seat.

Glancing at the rearview mirror, she saw Xiao Ha panting, front paws on the seatback, tail wagging enthusiastically.

Her hands paused on the wheel. When had this little guy sneaked in?

Jiang’s mother, who had quietly accomplished her deed and remained unnamed, covered her mouth and laughed. At this point, her second son had surely noticed Xiao Ha. Even if he wanted to send him back, it was already too late.
