These girls had agreed to apply to the same school as Jiang Chan. After all, if they put in the effort, it was still a hopeful goal.
After dinner, the six girls went to a KTV. Jiang Chan had never been to such an entertainment venue before, and found it quite novel upon entering. This was probably one of the rare times she could relax. Ever since she came to this world, Jiang Chan had been tense every single day.
Jiang Chan wasn’t someone who could sing, nor did she listen to music often. So after the five girls finished selecting their songs, she just sat to the side, resting her chin on her hand, watching them scream and howl.
Especially Shen Yu, whose pitch was completely off somewhere unknown, yet she hogged the mic and was completely absorbed in her performance. In the end, she was pulled down by the cold-faced Zhao Bingyue.
Watching the group fool around, Jiang Chan also relaxed a bit. Suddenly, her phone screen lit up. Jiang Chan glanced at it. It was a message from the private investigator.
Qin Miao couldn’t clearly say who Jiang Siyu’s father was, but Jiang Chan was very interested. She knew that Jiang Siyu wasn’t doing well nowadays, constantly having to observe Qin Miao’s moods.
At this age, it was inevitable for a child to be rebellious. On top of that, after suffering such a blow, learning that the man he had called “Dad” for over ten years wasn’t his real father, and then being ruthlessly kicked out by him, it was no wonder.
His usually loving mother also shifted all the blame onto him. So what exactly had he done wrong? If there was no warmth at home, it was only natural to seek comfort elsewhere.
Now Jiang Siyu was hanging out with a group of petty gangsters. To be honest, neither the original owner nor Jiang Chan herself had any ill feelings toward the child.
Grudges should go to the responsible party. Although Jiang Siyu was a bit vain, his nature wasn’t bad. Even when the original owner was in such dire straits, Jiang Siyu had never kicked her while she was down, unlike Qin Miao and the others.
This fact alone made Jiang Chan, who had come from the future, a bit surprised. Who would have thought that a bad stalk could produce a good shoot? That someone as relatively kind-hearted as Jiang Siyu could come out of it.
The reason she had people thoroughly investigate Qin Miao’s experiences over the years was nothing more than to find out who Jiang Siyu’s biological father was. What kind of man could tempt Qin Miao to cheat?
Logically speaking, Jiang Yu had treated Qin Miao quite well. How could she still be with other men after having Jiang Lianyu with Jiang Yu?
Not to mention that Qin Miao herself couldn’t even explain clearly who Jiang Siyu’s father was.
Because too much time had passed, the detective agency spent a large sum of money digging for information and finally handed Jiang Chan information on three individuals.
The rest had been ruled out by the investigators. Jiang Chan flipped through the files briefly, and a trace of mockery flashed in her eyes. Looks like Qin Miao hadn’t exactly stayed idle behind Jiang Yu’s back, based on that colorful romantic history.
She clicked open the first photo, and the moment she saw the man’s eyes, Jiang Chan narrowed her own. Those eyes looked really familiar, quite similar to Jiang Siyu’s.
She covered the lower half of the phone screen, looking only at the eyebrows and eyes. It was as if they had been carved from the same mold as Jiang Siyu’s. When she looked at the next two photos, she couldn’t find even a bit of resemblance to Jiang Siyu.
No wonder this photo was placed first. The detective must’ve noticed something. Jiang Siyu’s face shape resembled Qin Miao, but his eyebrows and eyes clearly didn’t.
Jiang Yu had once suspected it too, but Qin Miao had brushed him off with the excuse that Jiang Siyu just looked like her deceased grandmother. She probably already had a vague idea at that time but was just clinging to a bit of luck.
She tossed aside the other two files and carefully read through Sun Chen’s. Sun Chen was fifty this year, and his business focus wasn’t in this province. He had a loyal personality and used to be a petty gangster.
Later, he cleaned up and made something of himself. He was now divorced, reportedly because he and his wife had been married for over twenty years without having a single child, and now he lived alone.
Jiang Chan tapped her fingers lightly on the table. No children? If Jiang Siyu was really his child, would a man so desperate for a child really ignore him?
With that thought, a plan gradually formed in her mind. She directly sent Jiang Siyu’s photo to Sun Chen’s private email, along with photos of Qin Miao and Jiang Siyu’s birth date.
She didn’t believe Sun Chen wouldn’t take action.
Sure enough, less than a month after Jiang Chan started school, she received a call from Sun Chen. When she arrived at the university gates, she saw a luxurious business vehicle parked there.
Jiang Siyu jumped out, grinning from ear to ear. Sun Chen also got out from the other side, his gaze stern and commanding as he looked at Jiang Chan.
Jiang Chan leaned against the car door, arms crossed, looking at Sun Chen. “I did you such a big favor. How are you going to thank me?”
With that one sentence, Sun Chen immediately realized that Jiang Chan had orchestrated it. He burst into laughter. “President Jiang, how do you want me to thank you?”
Jiang Chan stroked her chin, looking at the now completely transformed Jiang Siyu. “Are you still called Jiang Siyu?”
Jiang Siyu shook his head. “No. Dad changed my name. I’m called Sun Xuyao now.”
Jiang Chan glanced at Sun Chen. “Your dad moves fast.”
Sun Xuyao, formerly Jiang Siyu, rubbed his head and smiled, then hesitated before asking, “Second Sister, why did you help me?”
The past month had felt like a dream to Sun Xuyao. Just a month ago, he had still been mixed up with some delinquents. Then suddenly, his biological father had shown up.
In a flash, he had secured custody and pulled him out of that stifling home, giving him a new life.
When he heard from Sun Chen that it was Jiang Chan who had provided the information, Sun Xuyao had been extremely surprised. He hadn’t expected her to do that. He had thought she hated him.
So now, seeing Jiang Chan in person, he really wanted an answer.
Looking at the eager-eyed sixteen-year-old Sun Xuyao, who was just about the same height as her and had clearly not been well cared for when with Qin Miao, Jiang Chan suddenly softened.
She shifted her posture. “What else could it be? I have a grudge against your mother, but I have no issue with you. You’re not Jiang Yu’s son anyway. The one who owes the debt should pay it. I’m not someone who implicates others for no reason.”
Sun Xuyao scratched his head, a little embarrassed. “How did you know I’m not Jiang Yu’s son?”
Sun Chen, standing beside him, was already exasperated. Why was his son so dense? He smacked Sun Xuyao on the back of the head. “Use your brain. Why do you think Qin Miao and Jiang Yu divorced? Isn’t it obvious?”
Only then did Sun Xuyao realize. He pointed at Jiang Chan with a trembling finger. “So that was your doing too?”
