The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 103

Not long after sitting down, Manager Gao pushed the door open and walked in. He sat down across from Jiang Chan and said, “The task you assigned me last time is almost done. It won’t take much longer to complete.”

Jiang Chan nodded. “You did a good job. I’ve put up with him for long enough. I’ll take this summer vacation as the perfect time to deal with him.”

Manager Gao was startled, intimidated by the coldness in Jiang Chan’s words. He shook his head. “Good thing I’m not your enemy, or I wouldn’t be able to eat or sleep in peace.”

Jiang Chan raised an eyebrow slightly. “If there’s nothing else, head out. I’ll be at the company for the next few months during the summer vacation. Let me know if anything comes up.”

After watching Manager Gao leave, Jiang Chan leaned back into the comfortable executive chair. The matter she had discussed with Manager Gao was a long story. As for the person she had been holding back against for so long, it was obviously Jiang Yu.

As the second-largest shareholder after Jiang Chan, Jiang Yu didn’t just stay home collecting dividends after stepping down. Instead, he frequently visited the company, checking accounts and interfering in its operations.

Previously, Jiang Chan had been too busy preparing for her high school entrance exams to deal with him, so she had no choice but to let him run around the company unchecked. Manager Gao had also tolerated Jiang Yu for a long time, as Jiang Yu constantly questioned his work.

As a professional manager, what he valued most was the complete trust of his superior. Since Jiang Chan, the actual boss, had never said anything, there was no room for Jiang Yu to point fingers at him.

Later, Jiang Chan assigned him a task, which finally made Manager Gao endure the situation. The plan to deal with Jiang Yu had been in motion for a long time, and they had put a lot of thought into it.

Jiang Yu did have feelings for Qin Miao, but those feelings weren’t enough to keep him faithful to her alone. Back when Lin Wan was still around, Qin Miao was Jiang Yu’s mistress, and aside from her, Jiang Yu also had a fourth and even a fifth woman on the side.

It was just that Jiang Yu was skilled at keeping things hidden, leaving Qin Miao completely in the dark. Now, Jiang Chan had gotten in contact with Jiang Yu’s fifth woman, Qi Yan, who was quite capable in her own right.

Qi Yan had been with Jiang Yu for three or four years. She did have some feelings for him, mainly because Jiang Yu was generous with his money and fairly good-looking, which greatly satisfied her vanity.

Jiang Chan knew what kind of person Qi Yan was. Anyone willing to be a mistress was rarely content to stay in the shadows forever. Most of them were ambitious and wanted to climb their way up. After learning that Qi Yan was pregnant, Jiang Chan made a deal with her.

Previously, Lin Yuanshan had asked Lin Jinyu to investigate the relationship between Jiang Lianyu, Jiang Siyu, and Jiang Yu. Lin Jinyu had indeed conducted an investigation and even arranged a paternity test.

The results were shocking. Jiang Lianyu was confirmed to be Jiang Yu’s daughter, but Jiang Siyu had no blood relation to him at all. In other words, Jiang Yu had spent all these years raising someone else’s son.

When Jiang Chan found out, she actually laughed. Jiang Yu and Qin Miao were truly a perfect match. One sneaking around behind his so-called true love with mistresses, and the other giving her true love a green hat. They really deserved each other.

Jiang Chan chose to keep this information hidden for now. It was far too important, and she would only use it when the time was right. That way, it would deal the greatest blow to the enemy.

For now, Qi Yan was her key card. What happened next depended on Qi Yan.

One Sunday, Qi Yan arranged to meet Jiang Yu at a cafe. Jiang Yu was still dressed in his usual refined manner, carrying an air of maturity that came with age.

Looking at the dignified appearance Jiang Yu put on, Qi Yan’s lips curled into a slight smile. Remembering the promise Jiang Chan had made her, her eyes gleamed with determination. To be honest, she had been surprised when Jiang Chan approached her, but in comparison, Jiang Chan was far more reliable than Jiang Yu.

She had dreamed of securing a higher status, and now Jiang Chan had given her the perfect opportunity. Of course, she would seize it. After all, waiting for Jiang Yu to willingly divorce Qin Miao was nearly impossible.

Glancing at Jiang Yu across from her, Qi Yan pushed a pregnancy report toward him.

Jiang Yu took a look. It stated that she was seventeen weeks pregnant. He quickly calculated the timing and asked, “Is it mine?”

Qi Yan’s brows instantly shot up in anger. Seeing things take a turn, Jiang Yu quickly grabbed her hand and said, “I misspoke. Don’t be mad. What did the doctor say?”

Qi Yan pulled her hand away. “If you don’t want it, I can still go to the hospital and get rid of it. The doctor said the baby is developing well, but if I don’t want to keep it, I need to decide soon.”

Jiang Yu panicked. “How could we not keep it? This is our child. We have to keep it!”

Qi Yan looked up. “I know rich men like you tend to be suspicious. I’m willing to keep the child, and to reassure you, I can have a paternity test done after the baby is born.”

Jiang Yu put on a deeply affectionate look. “There’s no need for that. Don’t I know what kind of person you are? Getting a paternity test would only damage the trust between us. I know the child is mine.”

Qi Yan’s attitude toward him was very cold. “I just wanted to inform you. Have you thought about how you’re going to arrange things for us mother and son?”

“Mother and son? It’s a boy?”

Jiang Yu immediately latched onto the key point. He had always dreamed of having a son. Who would ever think they had too many sons? Even though Jiang Siyu was a boy, Jiang Yu always felt it wasn’t enough.

It always felt like there was some kind of barrier between them. If he hadn’t personally witnessed Jiang Siyu’s birth, he might have even questioned whether the boy was truly his.

Especially since Jiang Siyu didn’t really look like him, though when Jiang Yu saw the resemblance between Jiang Siyu and Qin Miao, he wondered if he was just overthinking it

It was true that the child in Qi Yan’s belly made Jiang Yu genuinely happy, and he was especially looking forward to it.

Qi Yan curled her lips: “You just want a son. Don’t you already have one? What’s so special about this one?”

Jiang Yu: “It’s different. I’m already at this age, and I still have the chance to be a father again. I’m beyond grateful. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of both you and the baby.”

After speaking, Jiang Yu hurriedly left, likely already thinking about how to arrange things for Qi Yan. Watching the now-empty seat across from her, Qi Yan let out a sneer full of mockery.

Fifteen minutes later, Qi Yan walked out of the cafe and got into a car parked at the corner of the street.

“President Jiang, isn’t this a bit too risky? What if he finds out later?”

Sitting in the back seat was Jiang Chan, focused intently on the documents in her hands.

Jiang Chan looked up when she heard Qi Yan’s words. “Is the child Jiang Yu’s?”

Qi Yan immediately tensed. “Of course it is!”

Jiang Chan curled her lips. “Then that settles it. The child is his, so how could this be considered deception? All I did was give you a little push. The rest is up to you.”
