She had thought that this time Fang Yunchi would make it back in time. She had not expected that he would only return ten days after their daughter was born.
As soon as he came back, he was so exhausted that he fell into a deep sleep. Fang Siyun had almost been raised entirely by her.
Fang Yunchi would stay for three or four days at a time, then leave again in a hurry.
Sometimes he would leave in the middle of the night. They had lived like this for more than ten years. No matter how passionate love once was, it had nearly been worn away.
Yet Fang Yunchi always believed they were still in the midst of a passionate romance.
Then again, over those ten-plus years, the time they had actually spent together probably added up to only about a year. Of course it still felt like a honeymoon phase to him.

Once she understood this, Ning Xiangsi felt her love for Fang Yunchi almost disappear.
She pulled her hand free from his. “Fang Yunchi, this time I want you to think it through. Do you want to catch ghosts, or do you want this family?”
“Xiangsi, you should understand me.”
Ning Xiangsi’s eyes instantly turned red. Tears streamed uncontrollably as she looked up at him. “Hasn’t more than ten years been enough? Fang Yunchi, I stayed by your side. I gave birth to Fang Siyun for you. I took care of this entire family by myself. Haven’t I understood you enough? The time you spend at home in a year doesn’t even add up to one month.”
“Go outside and ask. Who could endure this kind of life?”
“When I was sick and couldn’t get out of bed, I had no choice but to call my parents. Later, I was afraid they would ask about you, so I could only call an ambulance myself.”
“When I went to our daughter’s parent-teacher meetings, other students thought Sisi came from a single-parent family. She was upset about it for a long time, but every time I told her to respect and understand her father.”
“Fang Yunchi, we have understood you for more than ten years. Sisi is already sixteen. Did she say anything wrong? She only touched the sore spot in your heart. You cannot accept that people worship a ghost you cannot kill.”
Fang Yunchi raised his hand again as if to strike. Ning Xiangsi did not even dodge. With tears in her eyes, she said, “So now that you’ve driven Sisi away, are you going to hit me too?”
“No, that’s not…” Fang Yunchi met Ning Xiangsi’s despairing gaze and suddenly felt hollow inside, as if he were about to lose something. He quickly grabbed her hand. “Xiangsi, I’ll spend more time at home from now on. I’ll go out less.”
Ning Xiangsi shook him off. “Do you think that’s what I’m angry about?”
“Think it through yourself. I’m going to find Sisi. If you still can’t figure it out, then don’t be in such a hurry to leave this time. Let’s get a divorce first. I don’t want to keep living like a widow. With or without you, Sisi and I can live just the same.”
Ning Xiangsi said nothing more. She opened the door and left.
Fang Yunchi pressed his hand to his head in pain. “I just want to kill those evil ghosts.”
“Sisi said those things because she doesn’t understand how detestable ghosts are.”
“I was only disciplining her so she would remember.”
“She’s still young. She doesn’t understand anything. When she grows up, she’ll understand how terrifying ghosts in this world really are.”
[Host, you have a little over a year left in this world.] The system kindly reminded her, secretly glancing at the human and ghost sitting hand in hand on the hillside.
Compared to more than ten years ago, they were even more in love now.
