“We can’t contact Miss Tang. After all, she’s a very powerful ghost. Ghosts don’t seem to use phones.”
Ning Xiangsi felt slightly disappointed when she heard that.
At that moment, another Daoist added, “But we can contact Qin Jiu. We all have his number. They seem to be in a relationship now. If you want to find Miss Tang, contacting Qin Jiu shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Senior, could you give me Daoist Qin’s number?” Ning Xiangsi asked hopefully.
The Daoists did not give it to her immediately. Instead, they asked, “Why are you looking for Miss Tang?” They recalled what Fang Yunchi had said earlier and had already formed a vague guess.
Ning Xiangsi’s expression changed slightly. “I…” She took a deep breath. “Two years ago, I almost ended up permanently trapped in a village like this. It was Miss Tang who appeared and saved me. Back then, I also thought she was wrong to kill indiscriminately.”
“But people’s thoughts change over time.” As she said this, she felt much lighter. Ever since her views had shifted, she had carried guilt in her heart.
Tang Guo had saved her, yet she had never sincerely said thank you.
“In a way, Miss Tang is my savior. If Master Mingxuan is truly that powerful and I know about this but say nothing and don’t warn her, wouldn’t that be repaying kindness with ingratitude? If something really happened to her, I would probably feel guilty for the rest of my life.”
The Daoists nodded, their gazes toward Ning Xiangsi now tinged with approval. “It’s good that you’ve figured it out. In this world, the definition of good and evil is not that simple. Some things appear evil but are actually good. Some things appear good, yet even the person doing them doesn’t know what kind of harm they might cause in the future.”
That was why, though they were ghost-catching Daoists, they never interfered with ghosts bound by karma who were merely seeking revenge. As long as they were not truly evil spirits, once they finished their revenge, they would leave on their own. There was no need for interference.
The ghosts they dealt with were those who genuinely harmed humans, or those unable to reincarnate who sought substitutes to take their place.
“I understand.”
Ning Xiangsi nodded quickly. She now knew that she had once been too naive, believing everything had to be judged by a simple idea of justice. In reality, many matters were far more complex than they appeared.
Especially when she saw how increasingly extreme Fang Yunchi had become, her heart ached, yet she did not know how to persuade him.
“Alright then. I’ll give you Qin Jiu’s number. Whatever you need to say, speak to them directly.”
“And as for that boy Fang, try to advise him more often. I can see quite a bit of karma clinging to him. If he continues like this, he may fare even worse than Fang Tianshi. When karma entangles someone, it’s impossible to predict where the consequences will fall.”
The Daoist who spoke looked at Ning Xiangsi meaningfully. In that instant, her face turned pale.
The implication was clear. Being with Fang Yunchi meant she was indirectly entangled in his karma.
Perhaps one day, those consequences would fall upon her.
But she truly loved Fang Yunchi. “I’ll try to advise him more. I’ll do more good deeds and slowly help dissolve the karma around him.”
She understood what the elders meant. They were advising her to distance herself from Fang Yunchi. Being friends was one thing, but if she married him, half of his karma would eventually fall upon her.
“Very well.”
The Daoists exchanged glances, gave Ning Xiangsi Qin Jiu’s number, and then left.
