“Whether there’s a ghost or not, we’ll only know after searching,” Fang Yunchi narrowed his eyes. “Daoist Qin is so certain there’s none. That makes me very suspicious of your true purpose.”
“I remember that a few years ago, in a small mountain village, Daoist Qin left with a female ghost, didn’t you?”
“Now you’re blocking us from catching ghosts. Could it be that the ghost here is that same one from back then?”
Fang Yunchi pressed on aggressively. “Then can I assume that the ghost causing trouble over these past years is that same ghost named Tang Guo?”
The others looked at one another. They had heard bits and pieces about what happened back then.
They only knew that Fang Yunchi had suffered badly at the hands of a female ghost. Later, with Fang Tianshi’s death, the matter had gradually faded from memory.
If it really was that ghost from back then, only a little over two years had passed. Fang Yunchi had been beaten so badly at the time. Could he handle her now?
“Daoist Qin, I’ve always known you’re someone who chases money and has no principles of your own. I don’t know what benefits that ghost gave you, but you’re actually helping her harm people.”
“She hasn’t harmed anyone,” Qin Jiu said.
“Haven’t harmed anyone?” Fang Yunchi laughed angrily. “Over the past few years, how many villages have had incidents identical to what happened before? I wasn’t certain at first, but now that Daoist Qin is here, I’m sure. The ghost must be Tang Guo, right?”
“Yes.”
Qin Jiu did not hide it and answered directly. He was not afraid of these people targeting his Guoguo. Even if she did not act, with the immortal sword he had refined and the progress he had made over the past two years, they were not his match.
“Daoist Qin, is that ghost truly Tang Guo? Was she the one who did those things?”
Ning Xiangsi spoke up. “Over these past two years, Brother Fang and I have already investigated. That Tang Guo from back then was indeed Tang Luosheng’s eldest daughter.”
“She is also the female ghost who killed my master. Whether for justice or for personal revenge, I, Fang Yunchi, will kill her every time I see her until she is completely destroyed. Otherwise, I will never rest.”
“Since I’ve encountered her today, I will absolutely not allow her to continue harming the human world.”
Qin Jiu looked relaxed. “Why are you telling me all this? Do you think I’ll help you uphold justice? No. I, Qin Jiu, dislike upholding justice the most. You all know that. Qin Jiu only likes catching demons and making money. Of course, now I’ve added another hobby.”
When he said that last sentence, a smile spread across his face.
Aside from Fang Yunchi, those who were somewhat familiar with Qin Jiu exchanged glances. They could not understand how someone usually so indifferent could smile so foolishly.
They were very curious about this new hobby, but since he did not elaborate, and out of pride, they did not ask.
The people in the metaphysics circle were not fools.
They had followed Fang Yunchi because they heard there was a ghost harming people, but they had not fully understood the specifics.
When they just heard Fang Yunchi say that the ghost was connected to the Tang family, several of them felt their hearts skip. At the same time, they were secretly relieved, their backs damp with sweat. Fang Yunchi had nearly dragged them into trouble.
If they had not run into Qin Jiu, they might have been completely fooled by Fang Yunchi.
