“Fang Tianshi.”
Qin Jiu answered, his expression slightly complicated. He looked at Tang Guo, observing her reaction. If the ghost in the villa had truly been Song Xiaoyun, then if Fang Tianshi had only captured her, that would be one thing. But if Fang Tianshi had destroyed her, he was certain the female ghost before him would not hesitate to kill Fang Tianshi.
Although they had not known each other long, he understood her somewhat. From her attitude toward the village, it was clear she was not soft hearted. She was the type to repay grievances with grievances.
“What is Fang Tianshi’s relationship with Fang Yunchi?” Tang Guo asked with a smile.
Qin Jiu glanced at her and replied, “He is Fang Yunchi’s master.”
“Was Fang Yunchi there at the time?”
“Yes.”
“Oh. Besides the two of them, was anyone else involved?”
Qin Jiu paused. “Let me ask.” He sent the question into the group chat and quickly received a reply. “They were contacted by your father at the time as well. Later, they came to the villa, took a look, and declined.”
“Why?”
“Karmic cause and effect. Don’t be misled by television dramas. Taoists catch ghosts, but they do not handle every ghost. At least most ghost catching Taoists will not interfere in cases tied to karma. Unless the ghost threatens innocent people, they will not intervene. Otherwise, they take on heavy karma themselves.”
Tang Guo was curious. “Then why did Fang Tianshi dare to accept it?”
“He’s an exception,” Qin Jiu said with a light cough. “Many wealthy clients call him the most righteous ghost catching Taoist. He accepts any ghost catching job, regardless of karma. In his philosophy, ghosts no longer belong in the human world. If they disturb the human realm and harm people, they should be eliminated.”
“I suspect he watched too many ghost catching films as a child and formed this mindset.”
Tang Guo looked enlightened. “No wonder Fang Yunchi looked so brainless. So he has a master with ‘an overwhelming sense of justice.’ He’s exactly the type of ghost catching Taoist I disliked most in the shows I watched when I was young.”
“Do your friends know what happened to that ghost in the end?” Tang Guo asked, concerned.
“I’ll ask again.”
Qin Jiu sent the question. The group chat fell silent for a moment before someone replied, “I heard that kid Fang Yunchi mention it once. The ghost’s soul was completely scattered.”
Tang Guo saw the message. Her expression turned cold. The smile on her face faded into a sneer. So her soul had been scattered.
“That ghost supposedly caused a woman to miscarry. In cases like that, Fang Tianshi would never send such a ghost to a temple. He would definitely eliminate it.”
“Qin Jiu, why are you asking about this? Did you take on a job related to the Tang family?”
“Qin Jiu, don’t get blinded by money. Fang Tianshi is the one with issues. He believes ghosts should not exist among humans. A ghost that kills must die. Even a ghost that doesn’t kill must be sent for purification. But you’re different. The Tang family’s karma is complicated. Once you get involved, you can’t easily extricate yourself. Just wait. Fang Tianshi will eventually die under the weight of his own karma. It’s a pity about Fang Yunchi. He’s been led astray and his future looks bleak.”
Tang Guo narrowed her eyes when she saw that message. “It seems most Taoists are actually reasonable people.”
The group chat grew lively. Qin Jiu typed that he was leaving for now and put his phone away.
“Are you going to seek revenge on Fang Tianshi?” he asked.
“Let’s clarify everything first.”
