“Are we just going to let her leave like that?”
The villagers stared in the direction where Tang Guo and Qin Jiu had disappeared, their faces filled with resentment. But when they thought about what had just happened, fear overwhelmed them.
Ning Xiangsi turned back and glared at them. “We can’t defeat her. If you want to keep her, go chase her yourselves.” She did not want to see the villagers die, but she still despised the people here.
Fang Yunchi felt extremely frustrated. Everything he had brought had been destroyed by the female ghost. He was holding in a surge of anger.
Qin Jiu followed behind Tang Guo until they reached the cliff edge. “My remains are down there. You can float, right?”
“I can manage for a while,” Qin Jiu replied.
Tang Guo smiled and floated down. Qin Jiu jumped after her, using the rock wall to slow his descent. Soon, he spotted the bones wedged in a crack in the stone. He landed to the side, took out his sword, and thrust it firmly into the rock face. Standing on the sword, he pulled out a burlap sack and carefully began collecting the bones.
“Be careful.”
Tang Guo watched as the skeleton swayed slightly. “Don’t let them fall. The wind blows hard here. If they drop, they’ll shatter easily. If they’re incomplete, they won’t look nice.”
Qin Jiu fell silent. Could bones be described as looking nice?
“I know,” Qin Jiu quickly said. “Don’t worry. The price you offered is enough. I’ll handle it properly.” He became even more cautious, placing each bone into the sack one by one.
Tang Guo hung from a tree branch growing out of the cliff crevice, resting her chin in her hand. “What’s your name? What do you do?”
“Qin Jiu. I make a living catching demons. Occasionally I take on side jobs resolving disasters for people. These days there are fewer and fewer demons. When I finally encounter one, it turns out to be vegetarian. If I don’t take side jobs, I can’t survive.”
System: Confirmed. It’s that guy. Look at the host. She’s happily swinging on the branch. This Qin Jiu has passed her first impression test. Since he didn’t immediately shout about killing her, the system guessed that next the host would start flirting with her darling.
“All done. I’ve collected everything into the sack,” Qin Jiu said, wiping sweat from his forehead as he carefully held the sack. “Now we take them back to your hometown for burial?”
“Of course. I need to go home and take a look.”
The remains definitely had to be brought back. They could not stay on the cliff forever. Eventually they would be damaged. Since she had accepted everything, these bones were also hers.
Qin Jiu asked again, “After burial, are you planning to reincarnate?”
“No.”
Based on the timeline, the original owner would have been destroyed around this time. She would probably remain here another twenty years.
Reincarnating would mean going directly to the next world.
She had been here too short a time. There were still many things she had not done. There were outcomes she was still waiting to see.
“Becoming a ghost cultivator? Makes sense. With your strength, reincarnation would be a waste. As a ghost cultivator, few would dare provoke you,” Qin Jiu said.
Tang Guo smiled. “You didn’t agree to Fang Yunchi earlier because you thought you couldn’t defeat me and were afraid of getting beaten, right?”
Qin Jiu’s body stiffened slightly. He replied seriously, “Of course not. I really only catch demons, not ghosts.”
He truly had not intended to capture her. Now even more so.
This female ghost had left him with a good impression. Now she was his employer. Qin Jiu might be indifferent to personal ties, but whoever paid was the boss. Before completing the job, he would never betray a client. In their circle, his reputation was excellent.
Tang Guo took out another sword. “I can’t stay in the human realm very long, maybe twenty years. I’ll use this sword to hire you.”
