The girl’s heart pounded wildly. She glanced at the beautiful girl floating ahead of her, who looked about the same age. In her hand was a white silk sash as pale as snow.
When they reached the courtyard gate, she hesitated for a moment. “Sister, if we go out like this, won’t we be discovered?”
“No,” Tang Guo replied.
Hearing that slightly sweet voice, completely different from the earlier cold tone, the girl was stunned. Are female ghosts now all this beautiful and with such pleasant voices?
Whether they would be discovered or not, she gritted her teeth and followed Tang Guo out.
Tang Guo brought the girl to a concealed place outside the village and said to her, “Wait here for a while. I’ll go bring the others out.”
“Thank you.”
The girl was no longer afraid of Tang Guo, who floated as she walked. Compared to her, the people in the village were far more terrifying.
Everything that had just happened felt like a dreadful nightmare. Yet she clearly understood that it was real.
She carefully hid herself in a pile of grass, revealing only her eyes as she watched Tang Guo drift back into the village. There was worry in her gaze.
Tang Guo drifted about above the village houses. A cold and fierce aura surrounded her. Incomplete soul bodies followed her as she floated. Perhaps because of the man who had just died, several soul bodies were already hovering beside her, as if saying, look at me, can you see me?
They looked rather comical.
She also recognized that most of these soul bodies were female, though some were male.
Their luck had been worse than hers. For various reasons, their soul forms had not fully taken shape. No matter how much time passed, they could only transform into malevolent energy that lingered around the village.
However, they discovered that by staying close to Tang Guo, their soul forms seemed to solidify somewhat. As a result, in no time at all, a group of half formed souls had gathered around her.
Tang Guo did not pay attention to them for the moment. When she heard a scream from a certain house, she leaped down.
The window opened in response. Inside were three people.
A young, pretty girl was trapped in a corner, struggling. An old woman, viciously cursing, was beating and scolding her, extremely rough.
Holding the girl’s hands was a burly, dark skinned man of about forty years old. He had stubble on his face and looked particularly ugly.
“This wretched girl actually still wants to escape.” The vicious old woman saw the girl struggling and pinched her hard. Tears welled up in the girl’s eyes from the pain.
She seemed to know that she could not escape tonight. The light in her beautiful eyes dimmed instantly, and she stopped struggling.
“Hmph, given up already.” The old woman grinned hideously. “Girl, don’t be afraid. Which woman hasn’t gone through this? Once you’re pregnant and become a mother, you’ll understand.”
The man was delighted at the sight, but before he could finish being happy, Tang Guo picked up a roof tile shard and lightly tossed it in his direction. A sharp scream burst from him at once.
When she entered, Tang Guo had already set up a soundproof barrier in the room. No matter how loudly he screamed, it would not attract anyone else.
Hearing the man’s scream and seeing him curl up on the ground with a pale face, writhing in pain, the old woman was so frightened that she fell to the ground. “Which damned creature did this? You will die a miserable death.”
Tang Guo drifted in through the window, playing with the white silk in her hand, and let out a light laugh. “Have I not already died a miserable death?”
The sudden female voice made the old woman freeze.
The old woman quickly scrambled up from the ground.
