“She has to be in this game.”
Feng Yu muttered it several times, his pale fingers trembling over the keyboard.
The audience watched as he launched Ghost King’s Bride. The entire interface turned dark and sinister.
This time, he did not rush straight to where the bride was imprisoned to ask if her name was Tang Guo.
He only stared at the screen, struggling to steady his shaking hands, a faint smile on his face. “Sorry. I need to prepare myself first. I need to think about how I’m going to talk to Guo Guo.”
“If she learns the truth, she’ll definitely hate me.” He wiped his tears. “She was always so gentle with me, so good to me. Whenever she had time, she made breakfast for me. She always delivered lunch on time. In the afternoons she usually stayed and worked with me. At night we had dinner together. Every day she said good morning and good night, asked if I got home safely.
“Guo Guo was always so good to me. If I see her and she ignores me, scolds me, I probably won’t be able to take it. So I need to prepare. I need to think about what she might say. Otherwise, when she scolds me later, I won’t even know how to respond.”
Everyone waited. Even though most believed the chances of Tang Guo being inside were slim, no one stopped him.
They had already watched two games. Watching one more would not take much time.
What if she really was in there?
Mr. and Mrs. Feng looked at Feng Yu with complicated expressions. They had never imagined that their proud son would come up with such a cruel scheme just to retrieve the brainwave of someone long gone.
Many girls liked Feng Yu, but the one they liked most had always been Tang Guo.
When Tang Guo stopped visiting their home as often and seemed a little different, Feng Yu had explained it away. It had only been a little over a month, so they had not thought too much about it.
Who could have imagined that her strangeness was because their good son had driven her brainwave out? Was that not the same as killing her with his own hands?
Mrs. Feng leaned against her husband, unable to stop crying. “It’s my fault. If I had been more attentive, this tragedy would not have happened. Guo Guo was such a good girl. She would not have been hurt.”
“Feng Yu has been clever since childhood, just like his uncle, always obsessed with games. How were we supposed to know he would do something like this?” Mr. Feng sighed. “It’s also my fault. I didn’t teach him properly. I didn’t make him understand that he must never do something like this.”
“From now on…” Mrs. Feng hesitated. “Let’s sell Feng Corporation’s game division. All of it.”
Mr. Feng did not hesitate. He pulled his wife closer. “Fine. We’ll sell it all. Games took my only brother. Now our son has used them to do something terrible. What’s the point of keeping it? Maybe our family was never meant to be in the gaming industry.”
In truth, he knew they simply could not bear it anymore. No matter how much profit it brought, every reminder only caused pain.
“I’m ready. This time I’m going to see Guo Guo.”
Feng Yu tapped on the keyboard, gripped the mouse, cleared numerous levels, and finally reached the Ghost King’s territory. He saw the bride locked inside a tomb.
He smashed it open and rushed to her, eyes filled with emotion. “Guo Guo, I know I’ve done many wrong things. Come with me today, okay?”
“Kind sir, are you here to take me away?” Tang Guo said.
She asked it with a smile, but Feng Yu and everyone watching could not see her true expression.
When they heard her say those words, their hearts sank.
So this isn’t Tang Guo either?
