With overwhelming evidence and video proof, the Feng family had no way to clear Feng Yu of the charges. However, what Feng Yu had done in this case exposed a gap in the law.
He had expelled Tang Guo’s brainwave from her brain and replaced it with another person’s brainwave. The Feng Corporation stated that they were willing to use every possible resource to retrieve Tang Guo’s brainwave. Moreover, Feng Yu himself declared that for as long as he lived, he would devote his life to bringing Tang Guo back. As a result, he became a special prisoner, the only inmate in the prison permitted to have a computer with internet access.
Xia Yi, who was still occupying Tang Guo’s body, did not live freely as she had imagined. Instead, she was placed under control and, under pressure from all sides, had to undergo various tests. If the matter had not already been exposed, Xia Yi’s fate would have been far worse. The idea of replacing brainwaves was something many scientific fanatics would have been eager to experiment with.
Because Tang Guo’s body belonged to the Tang family’s daughter, Xia Yi’s treatment was relatively lenient. Even when she had to cooperate with testing, she would not suffer physical harm and was carefully maintained.
But a life without freedom, coupled with daily psychological torment, was true suffering for Xia Yi. Later, she tried her old trick of self-harm as a form of protest, only to have her range of movement further restricted.
Since the Tang couple had communicated with Tang Guo, they turned a blind eye to everything. When they saw Xia Yi suffering mentally, they even felt a faint sense of satisfaction.
The only ones truly distraught were Tang Guo’s fans. When they learned that the person livestreaming for that final month had not been Tang Guo, they recalled feeling something slightly off at the time. However, since they were separated by a screen and focused on the games, they had not realized it. They were deeply saddened.
They later compared the livestream styles and found many differences. No matter how well someone imitated, two people were still two different individuals.
Feng Yu told everyone that he had found Tang Guo. She simply refused to return, and he asked for their help.
At first, everyone believed him and held onto hope. They wanted Tang Guo to come back.
Some were interested in the experiment itself. Others cared about Tang Guo, especially her millions of fans. What they cared about was the streamer who had brought them joy. They hoped that one day, they would see her on screen again, livestreaming horror games, frightening them into hiding under their blankets while they could not resist staring at the screen.
Although Tang Guo’s livestream room had not reopened, fans had formed the habit of checking it daily. Under her previous status updates, they left messages, sharing their lives and hoping she would return one day.
The post Xia Yi had once published was deleted by the platform after collective protests from fans.
All of Xia Yi’s livestream videos were completely removed.
In that livestream room, they did not want to see anything related to Xia Yi.
When people learned that Feng Yu had discovered Tang Guo’s existence, they were thrilled. Feng Yu also entered the game excitedly to find Tang Guo. He wanted to prove that Guo Guo truly existed.
If he could prove it, everyone would help him bring her out.
That day, Feng Yu’s entry into the game was livestreamed in full. Hundreds of millions of people watched.
Feng Yu controlled his game character and approached the bride with anticipation. He asked cautiously, “Bride, tell me, what is your name?”
He waited, waited for her to say, “My name is Tang Guo.”
