Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 760

“Husband, will that bad woman come again?”

The zombie king looked at the bride beside him with gentle eyes and replied, “I do not know.”

“The talismans in the zombie town that could harm husband have all been found and destroyed by me. As long as I am here, I will not let her hurt you.”

The zombie king took a deep breath. He could not even resist the sweet words of a game character and had fallen just like that. Who exactly designed this character? She struck straight at a person’s heart. It was warm, yet also regrettable.

He did not know how long they could stay together. Even though she was only a game character, he still could not help holding her as he asked softly, “Is there anything else you want to eat? I will have the butler prepare it for you.”

“No.”

Tang Guo lifted her eyes, a hint of a smile in them. “If there really is something, then there is one thing I especially want to eat.”

“What is it?” The zombie king’s gaze became even more indulgent. “Say it. I will have the butler prepare it.”

“Well…” Tang Guo hesitated for a moment, then leaned close to his ear and whispered, “The butler probably does not have it. Only you do, husband.”

“Why would only I have it?” The zombie king did not react at first and asked, “What is it?”

The system: hehe.

“It is you, husband. I want to eat you. Is that allowed?” Tang Guo looked straight at the zombie king. That teasing yet serious gaze made his whole body burn hot. Eat him?

This… this did not seem very appropriate. He thought game characters did not understand such things. Had he unlocked some hidden setting again?

His heart felt itchy from being teased, and he blurted out without thinking, “How does my wife want to eat me?”

After asking, the old zombie felt his ears burn even more. He forced a smile. He had actually asked a game character something like that. Had he stayed in this game too long and started to believe this was a real world?

Tang Guo rested her head on the zombie king’s shoulder, blinked, and asked with longing in her eyes, “Can I eat you?”

The system felt it might need to block the view.

The zombie king froze for a moment, then patted Tang Guo’s head and said with an awkward expression, “Let us talk about that later.”

He suddenly realized he had never asked this game character’s name, so he asked, “It has been several days, and I still have not asked my wife’s name.”

“My name is Tang Guo, from Tang Family Village.” Tang Guo answered without hesitation. The zombie king repeated the name several times. Even if she disappeared in the future, he would probably remember that name for a long time.

Tang Guo, from Tang Family Village, a game character who could touch his heart. She was like a real person. He even hoped she truly was one.

“What is husband’s name?”

The zombie king came back to his senses but did not answer right away, as if he were recalling something. After a long moment, he looked at Tang Guo seriously and said, “My name is Feng Ming.”

Feng Ming?

Tang Guo narrowed her eyes. Someone from the Feng family? That should be right. Even with the same surname, how could people be so different? Some were extremely detestable, while some were truly adorable.

“I will remember it. Feng Ming is husband’s name.”

Seeing Tang Guo’s happy expression, Feng Ming’s lips curved into a helpless yet doting smile. Falling for a game character, he did not know whether that was good or bad. The fortunate thing was that he was inside a game. In the real world, he was already dead. As long as she did not disappear, they could stay together forever.

Feng Ming looked at Tang Guo’s smiling face and was about to say something when everything around them suddenly shattered, and the Tang Guo before his eyes vanished.

  1. To be fair, if a game like this actually existed… it wouldn’t be a good game at all. Yes, it’s amusing to watch the relationship of these two supposedly “AI” game characters. But the whole point of a game is that a. it has a goal, or b. it brings some valuable interactive experience that other mediums can not. But if you can’t clear the game (which is its goal) and there’s no way to beat it, and you’re forced to watch these characters go on… at that point, you might as well just watch a movie. Because what would be the point of the “player” in this case, right? The whole point of a game is that you can DO things, whatever it is. But if the game actually punishes you for just, well, playing it, you might as well not play it at all. This is nothing like a HARD game – Souls games are hard games, but it all depends on skill. The game isn’t punishing you for just playing it.

    1. To be clear on the last point: Dark Souls games aren’t “punishing” in the sense of being unfair. It uses difficulty as a tool for world-building and teaching perseverance. In those games, the rules are consistent; if you learn the world, you can beat the task. But in this fictional game Zombie Bride, no matter how good the player is, they can never beat it. In a hard but fair game – the player can eventually catch up to the level of the game character, and beat the game. But as it is, if no matter how good the player is, the game character never lets the player win – that’s a bad game.
