“Haha, this is really interesting, these Lado tribe members,” Aoli laughed loudly as she watched them head toward the great forest. They were dressed in clothes, wearing fine ornaments, and carrying all kinds of food. No one knew how they had obtained them.
Not long after, their hands were empty. With vengeful yet satisfied smiles on their faces, they returned to the city.
A few days later, Ning Luo’s children appeared. They snuck in early while the sky was still bright and slipped into the city. Once inside, they were dazzled by everything they saw.
In the end, they sold the bone necklaces they wore, along with some dried beast meat that city folk considered rare. At last, they tasted fragrant food. The little girls also bought beautiful ornaments. Reluctantly, they left.
Two days later, they came again. This time, they spent an entire day in the city. In the end, every one of them decided not to go back out. The place was simply too wonderful. They could eat endless delicious food and wear beautiful clothes.
Their parents in the great forest were thrown completely out of their minds. If they went out this time, they would never be able to come back in again.
“Haha…” Aoli laughed until tears welled up. “I really did not expect it. The first ones to betray her were the offspring she gave birth to. Interesting. Truly interesting.”
Tang Guo said nothing. All of this was exactly as she had expected. Most people could not withstand temptation. No matter how steadfast a relationship seemed, once it was tested by special circumstances, cracks would appear.
When she fell in love, she preferred both sides to stand on equal footing. At the very least, she herself needed the ability to protect the relationship and preserve its purity. Purity was not about staying unchanged. It required effort, sincerity, struggle, and material support to maintain.
There was no need to think further. Ning Luo must be heartbroken now and would certainly ask someone to go look for her children.
Sure enough, two days later, Aimo and Black Wolf appeared beneath the city walls. Tang Guo and the others had been observing their behavior inside the city all along. They first exchanged goods for currency, then went to look for the children. Naturally, they failed to bring them back.
In the end, they bought food and did not forget to bring some back for Ning Luo. They also bought her beautiful jewelry and fine dresses. With clear reluctance, they returned.
“Where are the children?” Ning Luo looked at Aimo and Black Wolf. “I told you to find the children. And you came back with food and clothes?”
Ning Luo cried anxiously. The men hurried to comfort her. Though she complained at first, after being coaxed by them, she smiled again when she saw the beautiful dresses. In front of them, she once more put on the finely made human clothing. She looked at her reflection in the water and froze when she saw a face that was no longer young.
She suddenly remembered that she was no longer an eighteen year old girl preparing for exams. She had lived in the beast world for over ten years and was now well past thirty, nearly forty. Even with five mates who adored her, her youth was still slipping away.
When she put on the beautiful clothes, she found she could not tie the belt in a flattering way. Even holding her breath, she could not make her waist slim again.
She remembered that she had given birth to more than ten children. Her stomach was covered in terrifying stretch marks, like layers of old tree bark. She was not a beastman. She was human. After bearing so many children, her body had long been depleted. Life in the forest was harsh, leaving no room for proper care or recovery.
Even though her hands were still fair and delicate, and her feet still looked nice, once the clothes were removed, her body was covered in the marks of time.
