Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 575

“Guo Guo, eat. I can just eat some coarse grains.” Song Ye pushed the steamed buns toward Tang Guo and shook his head. His wife was all white and tender, she definitely wouldn’t be used to eating coarse grains.

He was a grown man, he could eat whatever.

“Eat.”

Tang Guo broke the steamed bun and placed it in his mouth.

Song Ye chewed the steamed bun. It wasn’t that he hadn’t eaten food better than this before, but somehow, none of it ever seemed as delicious as this bun.

He held a piece of the bun in his mouth and accidentally bit down on the girl’s tender little finger. Unable to resist, he gave it a quick suck before letting go.

Seeing the girl’s flushed cheeks, he wrapped an arm around her small waist and kissed her on the cheek.

Tang Guo wasn’t shy. When she saw his ears turning red, she couldn’t help but laugh. He really was adorable.

“I’ll go to the mountains this afternoon after work and bring some game back for Guo Guo.”

Before, when Song Ye came to the village as an educated youth, he lived day by day with no sense of belonging. He always thought he would leave one day.

He had never thought about changing anything here, nor did he want to change himself.

But the beautiful girl in front of him made him, for the first time, have the thought of staying. Holding the little girl’s soft body in his arms, his gaze swept over the box where he kept his clothes, and he fell into silence.

Ever since he’d heard the news about the resumption of the college entrance exam, his older sister had sent him materials, and he had been secretly reviewing. With his grades, passing the exam and leaving this place would be easy.

But now that he was holding his newlywed wife, he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving.

And thinking about going back to the place he came from, for the first time he had doubts. Aside from his sister, was there anyone there who even wanted him back?

“What are you thinking?”

The plot of this world wasn’t complete. Tang Guo couldn’t guess exactly what Song Ye was thinking, but vaguely suspected it had something to do with the college entrance exam.

“I heard my dad say the college entrance exam is being reinstated. Aye, do you want to take it?” Tang Guo smiled. “If you do, I’ll ask my dad to lighten your workload. It’s not a problem for our family to support one more person. My dad always said you’re an educated person. You couldn’t possibly stay here forever…”

“I…” Song Ye hadn’t expected her to be so direct. Girls in the village who married educated youths usually kept such news secret, afraid the man would run off after taking the exam.

He held her waist and couldn’t help asking, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll leave after the exam and abandon you?”

“I’m so beautiful. If you don’t want me, that’s your loss. Someone else definitely will.”

Song Ye’s heart tightened. In that moment, he had a sudden urge, maybe he should give up the exam.

By the time he passed the exam, he might have already lost his wife . That would be more of a loss than a gain.

“Guo Guo, I won’t leave you.” How could he bear to? If he had to choose between the exam and his wife, he would choose his wife. He pulled her into his arms tightly. “You’re my wife.”

Tang Guo lay in his arms, laughing joyfully. “Aye, are you really not going to take the exam? If you want to, I’ll support you. If not, there won’t be another chance like this in the future. This is your only shot to leave.”

Song Ye was silent for a while. Looking at the earnest girl in front of him who was thinking for his sake, he felt a single overwhelming impulse to stay and not take the exam, all for her.

Leaving here wasn’t the only way forward. In the past, he had refused to believe that. But once he had a goal, he could build something anywhere.

Soon, the times would change, and his opportunity would come.

Rather than go back and compete with others, he’d rather build something here with his wife in this small world.

“I won’t take the exam.”

He pulled Tang Guo close and buried his head against her neck. “Guo Guo, trust me. Even without the exam, I’ll give you the best life. No worse than those rich wives in the capital.”

Tang Guo’s lips curved up. This man really was capable.

Only a man with clear goals would be willing to work so hard.
