Feng Feiling’s expression was indifferent. If Leng Yeling were struck into ashes by the tribulation, she would not be sad at all, only delighted.
She stared at Leng Yeling’s position and watched as the eighth thunder tribulation gradually dispersed. She thought that once the lightning cleared, what she would see was Leng Yeling’s charred corpse.
After all, Leng Yeling’s mind was already in chaos. The eighth thunder tribulation was second only to the final strike in strength. He had already endured so much before, there was no way he could still hold on.
However, when the lightning finally scattered, what she saw was still Leng Yeling sitting there dazed, blankness and disbelief filling his eyes.
“How is that possible?”
Feng Feiling blurted out unconsciously, her voice sharp.
The things she’d just said should have struck a fatal blow to Leng Yeling’s spirit. By all rights, he shouldn’t have been able to bear it all.
Why?
Why was Leng Yeling still sitting there unscathed?
Leng Yeling, still stunned, hadn’t expected that he would actually survive the lightning. It seemed he was still alive?
He lowered his head to look over himself. Recalling what had just happened, he truly had been engulfed by the lightning, but it seemed like something had helped him bear most of it, leaving him unharmed.
“How can you be fine?”
Feng Feiling could no longer stay composed and shouted without thinking.
She had already torn off all pretense with Leng Yeling. There was no need to keep acting.
Besides, there was still one final tribulation in the sky. She did not believe that, in his state, Leng Yeling could endure the last strike.
Leng Yeling came back to himself, his expression extremely complicated. He remembered the words Feng Feiling had just spoken and did not want to believe them. But seeing her face now, and recalling everything she had done, he could not help but believe it.
Just now, Feng Feiling had truly wanted him dead.
In her eyes, he had seen no affection, only hatred, nothing but hatred.
He didn’t understand, didn’t understand it at all. Even if she had not been the one who saved him back then, he had devoted himself to her wholeheartedly. Could she really have felt nothing at all? Had she only ever wanted him dead?
“Ling’er, before… you were just joking with me, weren’t you?”
Feng Feiling sneered. “Who was joking with you?”
“I couldn’t wish more for you to be struck dead by the lightning.” Feng Feiling spoke icily, glancing up at the sky. “What a pity that the eighth thunder tribulation didn’t kill you.”
Leng Yeling finally admitted to himself that Feng Feiling truly did not love him. He suddenly remembered that the one who had saved him wasn’t Feng Feiling at all, it was Tang Guo… His heart sank.
“The one who saved me…”
“It was her, no need to ask.” Feng Feiling’s voice was cold. “You were discarded by the Leng family. She was the one who picked you up. She put you in that cave and left. As for why you saw me when you woke up, that was my doing. I arranged it deliberately so you’d think I was your savior.”
Leng Yeling stared blankly. “Why?”
“You’ll find out when you die.”
Every cold and merciless word stabbed straight into Leng Yeling’s heart.
Feng Feiling looked at him and mocked, “Don’t tell me, even now that you know the truth, you still like me?”
“No…”
Leng Yeling shook his head at once. No. How could this be the truth? How could it? Ling’er wasn’t supposed to be like this. She shouldn’t have been like this.
And Tang Guo, how could she have been the one who saved him? If that was true, then everything he had done all these years… Had he personally ruined the person who saved his life?
“You think so much. Why don’t you focus on surviving the last thunder tribulation instead?”
Looking at Leng Yeling, whose mind was already in chaos, Feng Feiling spoke with obvious satisfaction.
But just as she finished speaking, all around them appeared a group of people dressed in white clothes, wearing gauzy hats. The sight instantly ruined her good mood.
She stared straight at the woman standing in front. “Did you hear everything?”
