Tang Guo looked at the group of little ones in front of her, finding it hard to imagine that in about ten years, they would become powerful figures capable of shaking the world.
Aside from Wen Yi and Gu Qin, everyone else had been picked up by her from the neglected corners of various sects and factions.
When she found them, nearly every one of them was in a pitiful state, disheveled, their eyes filled with despair, the confidence they once had long gone.
But now, these once-downtrodden geniuses were full of spirit. The arrogance in their eyes had faded, replaced by a steadier, more composed look. Each of their young faces regarded her with serious expressions. It was only after arriving at the Demon Sect that they learned who Tang Guo truly was.
Tang Guo had once been a genius disciple of the Xingyue Sect, only to have her spiritual roots crippled and be cast out.
At first, they were still a bit uneasy, but their shared experiences made them feel an undeniable closeness to Tang Guo.
Even though she was only eighteen, just a few years older than them, they still willingly called her “Master,” treating her with deep respect and admiration.
She had saved herself, while they had been saved by another. In the end, their master was far stronger than them.
“You all seem to be in good spirits,” Tang Guo said with a smile. “That’s good. I’ll be assigning you tasks next, and I hope you can complete them perfectly.”
Gu Qin, a lively girl, brightened up. “Master, does that mean we can finally go outside?” Since arriving at the Demon Sect, they had been strictly forbidden from leaving.
“You can go out now.” Tang Guo nodded and waved her hand. A pile of white robes and white veiled bamboo hats appeared on the ground. “But if you go out, you must wear these uniforms and keep your faces covered. No one is allowed to see what you look like. You can do whatever you want, but you must not reveal your identity.”
“No problem, Master!” Gu Qin ran excitedly to the pile of hats, her face full of joy. “I thought it was going to be something serious, but it turns out we just get to wear the same beautiful robes as Master and an equally mysterious hat? I couldn’t ask for more!”
The others eagerly nodded in agreement. From the moment they first met their master, they had been drawn to her mysterious presence. She seemed to come from an extraordinary background, possessing unfathomable strength.
Now that they had the chance to dress like her, they could not be happier. If it had been in the past, they would have scoffed at wearing identical outfits to anyone. But now, things were different. These robes were personally given by their master.
Even the veiled bamboo hats were no ordinary items. They could block spiritual senses, making it impossible for even those far stronger than them to see their faces. The white robes were all high-grade artifacts, resistant to water, fire, and attacks. Each piece was a treasure.
“You all have great talent, but you can’t stay in the sect forever, living comfortably. If you get too used to an easy life, you’ll grow lazy and complacent.”
The little ones quickly shook their heads. No, even if life was good now, they would never slack off in their cultivation. They knew all too well how cruel the cultivation world was. Without strength, their fates would be miserable. They had already experienced that firsthand.
Those dark days, when they had no hope, when they had been trampled on and stripped of their dignity. They never wanted to experience that again. They had learned their lesson.
“Even if you aren’t lazy, without experiencing true life-and-death situations, you won’t grow.”
This time, they found themselves agreeing. Life in the sect was indeed too comfortable.
“That’s why you will go out to train and experience the world. It will benefit your cultivation.” Tang Guo took out several jade slips. “These contain the plans I’ve prepared for each of you. I’ve tailored them to your strengths, and all the methods are recorded inside. Once you meet my requirements, you can return.”
The expressions of the young disciples changed instantly. Master was sending them away.
No, she was sending them to train.
They stared at the jade slips, cracking their knuckles in anticipation. Looking at each other, their eyes filled with competition.
