The two took the jade slip and examined it, their faces turning deathly pale. They stood frozen in place, saying nothing. Not only was the jade slip empty, but now they also noticed traces of an illusion lingering on it.
“Do you understand now? If you want to know who’s responsible for what happened today, then submit to my Demon Sect and you’ll have your chance for revenge in the future. Of course, whether you agree or not doesn’t really matter. My sect’s elders will make sure you do.”
After speaking, Tang Guo turned to look at the frail young girl. Gu Qin seemed to sense that the Holy Maiden Aunt of the Demon Sect was looking at her.
Tang Guo then turned to Wen Yi, who was standing beside her. “Wen Yi, go and bring your Second Junior Sister over.”
Wen Yi had been keeping a close eye on Tang Guo’s movements. Though he couldn’t see her face, he noticed that she had been facing a small, pale, and frail-looking girl. Nodding, he walked toward Gu Qin.
Gu Qin watched as Wen Yi approached and instinctively took a step back in fear. Remembering his own past, Wen Yi felt a bit of sympathy for her. He reached out his hand and gave her a gentle smile.
“Come with me. Master wants to take you as her disciple.”
“You… you mean Master is the Holy Maiden Aunt?” Gu Qin wasn’t foolish. The veiled woman had held absolute authority throughout this entire situation. She was clearly an extraordinary figure.
Although she had joined the Tianhuo Sect, her talent was mediocre at best. She was only accepted into the sect because one of her ancestors had once saved a Tianhuo Sect elder, who had promised that if their family produced someone with spiritual aptitude, they could join the sect. As it happened, she was the one who had a trace of talent, but it was extremely poor, with the weakest form of a five-element spiritual root.
“Yes.”
Wen Yi’s voice was gentle, as if afraid of scaring her. This was his junior sister, after all. He had to treat her well. “Come on, let’s go see Master. She’ll take you in as her disciple and make you stronger.”
At the mention of becoming stronger, Gu Qin’s eyes lit up for a brief moment. She wanted strength. Ever since she had joined the sect, she had been constantly bullied. But with her poor aptitude, all she could do was endure.
She had finally found a hidden cave, only for it to spark a vicious conflict.
Slowly, she placed her small hand in Wen Yi’s palm and followed him to Tang Guo.
“Gu Qin?”
Gu Qin froze for a moment. The Holy Maiden Aunt was incredible, she actually knew the name of someone as insignificant as her. Without realizing it, a hint of admiration appeared in her eyes.
Tang Guo couldn’t help but laugh and complained to the system, “These future geniuses are really pitiful, dragged into such a miserable state by Feng Feiling. But talent is talent, no matter what, they’re always sharper than ordinary people. If it were any other child, just seeing someone from the Demon Sect would have scared them stiff. They might even refuse to submit simply because I’m from the Demon Sect.”
But those who carried great fortune were different. They knew how to seize opportunities. Having experienced more hardships than most, their minds matured faster as well.
“Do you want to come with me and become my disciple?”
Gu Qin swallowed nervously, her bright eyes looked up at Tang Guo. “My talent is poor,” she admitted. It was terrible, would the Holy Maiden Aunt really accept a disciple like her?
“If you don’t mind taking me in, I am willing to become your disciple.” Before Tang Guo could even respond, Gu Qin dropped to her knees with a thud and kowtowed three times, each one loud and forceful. Looking up, she gave Tang Guo a bright smile. “Master.”
Wen Yi: His junior sister was much bolder than he was. Was she afraid that if she hesitated, their master might change her mind?
Tang Guo was amused and quickly helped Gu Qin up. She spoke softly, “Your talent isn’t poor, it’s actually very good. You just haven’t had the right cultivation method. Come with me, train alongside your senior brother, and once you start practicing a suitable technique, you’ll realize just how exceptional your talent truly is.”
