When Mo Yuntian and his people followed Tang Guo to their destination, they arrived to find the sect caught in brutal infighting.
Mo Yuntian couldn’t help but shudder. The timing was just too perfect.
This time, the sect wasn’t a small one but a mid-sized sect. Like any other, the Tianhuo Sect had its fair share of conflicts and competition. Due to a power struggle between two elders, things had escalated into outright bloodshed.
It wasn’t until they were surrounded and restrained by the Demon Sect that the people of the Tianhuo Sect finally snapped out of their frenzy. Seeing the blood-covered ground and the many wounded and dead, their faces filled with horror.
Seeing the situation, they couldn’t help but look up at the white-robed woman seated above them, her gauzy veiled hat obscuring her features and blocking her divine sense.
Yet, everyone could feel her gaze sweeping over them with an air of indifference.
“You’re all awake?” The woman’s voice carried a hint of amusement. “Since you’re awake, I’ll make an announcement. The Tianhuo Sect will now be under the control of the Demon Sect. Starting today, it will be renamed the Demon Sect Tianhuo Branch.”
“Don’t even think about it!!”
The elders of Tianhuo Sect didn’t even stop to think before immediately rejecting the idea. They glared at Tang Guo in outrage, their expressions filled with defiance, as if they would rather die than submit.
Tang Guo wasn’t upset. She simply said, “If you refuse, situations like today will keep happening. Haven’t you noticed? You were fighting over a single jade slip, and it escalated into killing each other.”
Her words made the elders’ faces darken. They, too, had started to sense that something about this whole situation wasn’t right.
They suddenly looked up and fixed their eyes on Tang Guo. “This isn’t a scheme of the Demon Sect, is it?”
“You think my Demon Sect needs such tricks to take over your sect? Sending a few Tribulation Stage cultivators would have been enough to make you surrender. Just like now. Why would we bother stopping you from tearing each other apart? Wouldn’t it be easier to just sit back and wait?”
“Whether you agree or not, the Tianhuo Sect is already part of the Demon Sect,” Tang Guo said, ignoring the elders’ looks of resentment as she swiftly took control of the situation. The Tianhuo Sect members had no power to resist, leaving them dejected and in despair.
“Alright, stop looking like your mother just died. Being able to join the Demon Sect is a blessing you earned from your past lives.”
As Tang Guo glanced around the main hall, her gaze finally landed on a young girl around ten years old. The girl was thin and sickly, but her eyes were bright and intelligent.
This time, she had come for this girl, Gu Qin.
If events had unfolded as they should, Gu Qin would have remained overlooked in her sect until she accidentally discovered a hidden cave in the mountains behind the Tianhuo Sect. Inside, she would have found a cultivation technique suited to her, allowing her to rapidly advance. Within a few years, she would have become a renowned genius of the cultivation world.
However, some time ago, Feng Feiling secretly came to the Tianhuo Sect and took away the cultivation opportunity that Gu Qin was meant to receive. Not only that, but she also left something behind, causing the hidden cave to be discovered by others when Gu Qin found it.
All that remained in the cave was a single jade slip, which was completely blank. But thanks to Feng Feiling’s tricks, she had tampered with the jade slip, setting off a chain of events. It had incited the conflict between the two elders, and the illusion she cast had spread throughout the sect, clouding everyone’s minds and causing them to turn against each other.
If she hadn’t come, the Tianhuo Sect would have eventually been discovered with nothing left but scattered limbs and gruesome corpses.
She pinched the jade slip between her fingers, undid the restriction placed on it, and casually tossed it to the two elders who had been fighting over it. “This is what you were fighting over. Take a look.”
