“The current situation doesn’t look very good, Tongzi,” Tang Guo muttered to herself.
[Host, you’re about to be expelled from the sect,] the system said cautiously. It had only skimmed the plot briefly, but what it knew was that things were currently very unfavorable for the host.
Tang Guo didn’t respond further. Now wasn’t the time to review the plot or retrieve the original host’s memories. She needed to focus on surviving the immediate crisis. Honestly, waking up in a weak and powerless state upon transmigrating was something she’d experienced plenty of times before, so she wasn’t particularly panicked.
“Sect Master Wen, if I recall correctly, your Xingyue Sect has a rule that disciples who harm their fellow sect members must be expelled.” Leng Yeling curled his lips into a cold smile. “Not only has Tang Guo harmed her fellow disciples, but she has also stolen your sect’s treasured artifact. Keeping a disciple like that in the sect is simply unjustifiable, don’t you think?”
Tang Guo lowered her gaze. This man in the black robe seemed to harbor extreme hatred for her. She didn’t need to guess. Men who were madly in love with the female protagonist would naturally despise the supporting female character like her, to the point of wishing they could cut her down with two strikes.
“Elder Bai, what do you think?” Wen Ziqiu glanced at the cold and distant man in white standing to the side. “Tang Guo is your disciple, Elder Bai. How do you think this matter should be handled?”
Bai Wuqing finally lifted his gaze, lightly sweeping his eyes over the others before stepping in front of Tang Guo. In an indifferent tone, he asked, “Why did you steal the sect’s treasured artifact?”
“I don’t know,” Tang Guo said, narrowing her eyes as she studied the man in front of her, while simultaneously communicating with the system. “It’s him.”
The system was startled. How does the host always manage to identify him with such certainty? But looking at the current situation, things didn’t seem to be going too well.
Even Bai Wuqing, who was typically devoid of expression, couldn’t help but frown at her response. “You don’t know why you stole the sect’s treasured artifact?”
“I don’t know.” Tang Guo appeared confused. She hadn’t received the original owner’s memories yet, so she genuinely didn’t know. As for whether she had stolen the sect’s treasure or not, that was still a question.
Bai Wuqing was slightly taken aback. The Tang Guo before him seemed to have undergone a change in temperament. Suddenly, his expression grew sharp, and he reached out to press his hand against Tang Guo’s forehead. After confirming that the soul was still the familiar one and had not been replaced, his expression eased somewhat.
As for why she could inhabit another person’s body without being detected as a foreign soul, Tang Guo and the system had no idea.
“Sect Master, I believe there is still some suspicion regarding this matter. Perhaps we should investigate further,” Bai Wuqing finally said. By nature, he was a cold and indifferent person, and even though Tang Guo was his disciple, he did not particularly care about her life or death. Yet, just now, something in his heart stirred, prompting him to make this decision.
Feng Feiling, the woman dressed in fiery red, was not willing to let it go. “Elder Bai, Tang Guo stole the sect’s treasured artifact. The Image Stone has recorded everything. She also attacked me with malicious intent, attempting to cripple my spiritual roots—there’s evidence for that as well. At this point, is Elder Bai still going to shield her?”
“If not for the respect I have for you, Elder Bai, today wouldn’t end with merely abolishing her spiritual root. I would’ve taken her life directly.”
“Master, I’ve already shown great leniency by sparing Tang Guo’s life today,” Feng Feiling said coldly. “If Tang Guo stays in the sect, then I will leave. Choose for yourself. Do you want Tang Guo, or do you want me?”
Wen Ziqiu looked at Feng Feiling’s angry expression, a flash of admiration flickered in his eyes but was quickly concealed. This time, it was indeed Ling’er who had been wronged.
Without further consultation with Bai Wuqing, he immediately announced, “Tang Guo has harmed her fellow disciples and stolen the sect’s treasured artifact. Now that her spiritual roots have been crippled, I hereby strip her of her Xingyue Sect disciple status.”
