Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 504

The next day, the people of Tianqin Kingdom ventured out of the imperial city and gazed at the now-empty Datang City and the vanished cannons in bewilderment.

“Has the army from the Tang Dynasty withdrawn?”

“It seems so.”

The people exchanged bewildered glances. “The city is empty too?”

“It’s empty.”

A maid carrying a basket of vegetables frowned deeply. “My mistress wants some of those fruits and vegetables from the Tang Dynasty. Now that everyone’s gone, where am I supposed to buy them?”

“They left in such a rush. They came in haste back then, and now they’ve left just as hurriedly. Not even a goodbye?”

“Let’s go. It seems they won’t be coming back.”

Somehow, from their initial fear, they had grown to love visiting Datang City. The goods there were always fresh and fascinating.

As for the cannons, apart from the initial shock, they were never once used. Their fear had turned into fondness, and now, into reluctance to see them go.

“That Datang City was so wonderful. Why did they have to leave?”

“Perhaps because our Tianqin Kingdom is too poor. The Tang Dynasty has trade relations with many overseas nations, and every household there is said to be dripping with wealth. Those who stayed in Tianqin Kingdom must have felt out of place and hurried back.”

It wasn’t until some time later that they heard the truth. The Imperial Concubine and her adulterer had left. The army was only stationed there to protect her. Now that she was gone, there was no need for them to remain.

Days later, many realized how dull life had become without the Imperial Concubine and Datang City.

“She’s really gone.”

He went to Tang Guo’s old palace, lingered in her room for a long time, and reminisced about the past. The more he remembered, the more it hurt.

He looked at his reflection in the bronze mirror, his appearance aged and haggard. He hastily covered it with his sleeve, unwilling to see it.

Suddenly, in a corner, he spotted a sachet. Picking it up immediately, the familiar design and the single character “Mo” stitched on it felt like a dagger to his heart.

Eunuch Li soon saw Xuanyuan Mo holding a sachet, sobbing uncontrollably. He wiped his tears in anguish, unable to compose himself.

“This… this is the sachet she made for me,” Xuanyuan Mo sobbed, holding it up. “Look, she made this for me. When did she make it? If I had found it earlier, would she have stayed? Tell me, would she?”

The next day, Xuanyuan Mo abdicated the throne to the eight-year-old crown prince.

He moved into the former Imperial Concubine’s palace and was often seen holding the sachet, laughing and crying alternately.

An Ningxiang visited with the young crown prince. The mother and son remained silent for a long time before quietly leaving, hand in hand.

“Mother, will the Imperial Concubine really never return?”

“No, she won’t.” Return for what? There’s nothing here worth her staying for.

When Tang Guo regained consciousness, the first thing she felt was excruciating pain, as if her skin had been peeled off and her tendons torn apart. The searing, crushing agony left her drenched in sweat.

Before she could gather her thoughts, she endured the pain and opened her eyes, glancing down at her blood-soaked body, lying weakly on the ground.

A crowd surrounded her, watching intently. Her expression remained calm as she scanned the onlookers.

At the front stood a man and a woman. The man held a longsword in his hand, its blade dripping with fresh blood. His gaze was heavy as he stared at her, carrying a hint of disgust.

The man was dressed in a black robe, his features cold and strikingly handsome. Standing beside him was a woman clad in fiery red attire, her appearance dazzling and bright, with an air of arrogance in her expression.

“Tang Guo, you brought this upon yourself. You never should have laid a hand on Ling’er.” The man, Leng Yeling, said this as he sheathed his sword. He wrapped his arm around the woman beside him and continued, “Today, out of respect for your master Bai Wuqing of Xingyue Sect, I’ll spare your life, but I’ve destroyed your spiritual root.”

At this moment, Tang Guo noticed a man in white standing not far away with his hands folded behind his back, his expression cold and indifferent.
