Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 502

The Imperial Concubine was a legend. To the women of the imperial city and the entire Tianqin Kingdom, the more they learned about her, the more they admired her.

The Imperial Concubine lived recklessly in Tianqin, unchecked by anyone.

If a woman in Tianqin sought justice, the Imperial Concubine would intervene, and no one could stop her. Those who tried to act tough would immediately flee in fear upon hearing that the Imperial Concubine was involved.

Gradually, the women of Tianqin began to truly stand tall, and men no longer dared to treat women as mere possessions. Whether commoners or powerful officials, they began to show much more respect to their wives and concubines.

They feared that if they mistreated their wives, another “Imperial Concubine” might appear. Over time, they discovered that treating their wives better led to unexpected results. The men who tasted the benefits of this newfound harmony realized that being genuine and kind to women brought great rewards, and they no longer resisted the idea.

All the women silently expressed their gratitude to the Imperial Concubine, who openly shamed the emperor by putting a “green hat” on him and lived as she pleased.

In truth, over the years, the Imperial Noble Consort had done little apart from meddling in trivial matters, occasionally wandering the palace with her adulterer, or taking people out horseback riding. She had never committed any truly malicious acts.

She had never shown any interest in the governance of Tianqin Kingdom.

She would not intervene unless someone came to her for help and piqued her interest. Only if she found the matter intriguing would she choose to get involved.

To call her a kind or charitable person because of this would be a grave misunderstanding.

There was once a woman who sought her out for help. The Imperial Concubine noticed that the woman had just made some changes in her life, but then was coaxed back by her husband with a few sweet words. After that, no matter what the woman asked for in the future, the Imperial Concubine refused to see her or get involved again.

This made many people realize that the Imperial Concubine was not a kind person.

Xuanyuan Mo remained the emperor and was still capable, but it was clear to many that despite his diligent handling of state affairs, his personal life was far from well.

The court officials dared not comment as long as the emperor kept things running smoothly, and they considered themselves fortunate.

A young prince was born and was being raised by the empress. Several tutors were hired to educate him, and the court officials planned to nurture the young prince carefully. Xuanyuan Mo seemed to tacitly approve of their approach, as he spent most of his time handling state matters, otherwise appearing lost in a daze.

And so, many years passed.

The Imperial Concubine seemed to remain as youthful as ever, and her relationship with Xuanyuan Mie only deepened. Palace concubines often saw the two strolling hand-in-hand through the imperial gardens.

Xuanyuan Mie would often pluck the most beautiful flower and place it in her hair. The way they looked at each other and smiled revealed the deep affection in their eyes.

The Imperial Concubine’s legs had deteriorated, so she was often carried or piggybacked by Xuanyuan Mie. Over the years, her condition worsened, and every time she met someone, it was while riding on Xuanyuan Mie’s back.

Yet, she was always seen smiling happily while on his back.

Xuanyuan Mie would ask her if her legs hurt, and she would say they didn’t. Xuanyuan Mie’s distressed yet cautious expression made it clear just how deeply he loved her.

She no longer left the palace. Her health had become even worse than that of the now-elderly Emperor of Tang.

Many people understood that the Imperial Concubine didn’t have much time left.

The palace concubines had grown much quieter compared to before. Those like Concubine Meng De appeared far younger than the weary empress.

An Ningxiang, now in her forties, looked much older, while the other concubines seemed to still be in their late twenties. As for the Imperial Concubine, she appeared even younger.

They often wondered, she was so young. Why couldn’t she live longer?
