Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 478

“Ningxiang, my sachet is old. Could you embroider a new one for me?” Xuanyuan Mo said casually, pulling out a drawing depicting a totem. “I stumbled upon this totem in a book. I like it, so embroider this design.”

An Ningxiang froze for a moment when she saw the totem. “Ah Mo, where did you see this totem?” Her heart was in turmoil. Wasn’t this the same totem from the sachet she had found as a child?

How could she possibly embroider it? The stitching was intricate, the colors numerous, and she had only barely scratched the surface of its complexity.

Xuanyuan Mo noticed An Ningxiang’s reaction and narrowed his eyes as he picked up an old sachet. “Doesn’t this totem resemble the design on the sachet you used to wear?”

“It does look somewhat similar, but the complexity and difficulty are worlds apart,” An Ningxiang admitted honestly, shaking her head. She had no idea what Xuanyuan Mo’s intentions were. He had never mentioned his childhood near-drowning incident in front of her. “This totem is far too complicated. I can’t manage it.”

“I remember that your mother was an excellent embroiderer. Could she perhaps do it?”

An Ningxiang shook her head. “My mother doesn’t know this stitching technique.”

“Oh?” Xuanyuan Mo’s heart sank. “Then the embroidery techniques you know, weren’t they taught by your mother?”

“Except for this one, all were taught to me by my mother.” An Ningxiang found it odd. “Ah Mo, why are you suddenly so interested in this today?”

The blood drained from Xuanyuan Mo’s face. He quickly clenched his fists to maintain composure and continued, “Then this particular technique, who did you learn it from?”

“Naturally, it was…”

An Ningxiang suddenly realized that the technique came from the sachet she had picked up, which belonged to the Imperial Concubine. She also recalled that Xuanyuan Mo had first noticed her because of her sachet. Ever since then, the task of embroidering his sachets had fallen to her. It seemed he especially liked the ones she made. Now that Xuanyuan Mo was asking about it, could it be…

Could his kindness towards her all stem from that sachet?

She was shocked. The sachet belonged to the Imperial Concubine. What connection had Xuanyuan Mo shared with the Imperial Concubine in his childhood?

If that was the case, what would happen if Xuanyuan Mo discovered the truth? How would he deal with her?

An Ningxiang gripped her handkerchief tightly, lowered her gaze, and calmly said, “Naturally, I learned it from an embroiderer, but I don’t know where she is now.”

Over the years, although An Ningxiang had been in the palace, Xuanyuan Mo had always protected her well. Xuanyuan Mo wasn’t as clever as Xuanyuan Mie, but he was still an emperor capable of holding onto his throne.

In that fleeting moment of An Ningxiang’s hesitation and nervousness, how could he not tell?

He knew her mannerisms too well. She was lying.

An Ningxiang might not be the person he was looking for.

Thinking of the sachet his older brother wore at his waist, Xuanyuan Mo felt a heavy weight in his heart. He could only hope the truth was not what he suspected. If it were, he didn’t dare thnk about it. Even the thought made his chest feel like it was about to explode, his body ice-cold, as if standing stark naked in freezing snow, or being roasted on a volcano. It was extremely uncomfortable.

“Then Ningxiang, embroider a different design.”

Xuanyuan Mo concealed his expression, showing nothing that might arouse An Ningxiang’s suspicion. “I just happened to come across it.”

An Ningxiang couldn’t discern anything but dared not let her guard down. She simply nodded in agreement.

That night, Xuanyuan Mo summoned his shadow guards to reinvestigate the An family and the Tang family.

It had been far too long since the near-drowning incident in his childhood. Finding answers would not be a quick task. Xuanyuan Mo spent his days restless, his heart pounding as if it wanted to leap out of his chest.
