Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 474

At long last, the coronation ceremony had arrived. An Ningxiang, dressed in the empress’s ceremonial robes, finally felt a sense of relief.

From today onward, she would be the mother of the Tianqin Kingdom, the most noble woman in the land.

After completing all the tedious rituals, she stood hand in hand with Xuanyuan Mo, side by side before the court officials, receiving their homage.

As countless people bowed to her, her emotions surged with intensity.

No one could resist this feeling. The corners of her lips lifted slightly, though her entire body remained tense, afraid of making a single mistake.

The other concubines, even the Imperial Concubin ,were not allowed to stand before the court and receive homage. This thought lifted her spirits further.

From today onward, she would rightfully hold control over the harem.

Xuanyuan Mo’s feelings, however, stood in stark contrast to hers. Though he was holding An Ningxiang’s hand and had achieved his long-desired goal, why did he feel so empty inside, devoid of the joy he had imagined?

Wasn’t this his goal, his long-standing aspiration? So why did he only feel bitterness in his heart, his mind consumed by another face?

Xuanyuan Mo had lied to himself countless times, but during this coronation ceremony, he could no longer deceive himself.

He had feelings for the Imperial Concubine. He had actually fallen for her. Why was it so absurd, so utterly ridiculous?

As he thought about how there could never be any possibility between him and the Imperial Concubine, his grip tightened. An Ningxiang furrowed her brows slightly and withdrew her hand, which finally brought Xuanyuan Mo back to his senses. He whispered, “I’m just feeling a little nervous.”

An Ningxiang’s heart sank. Really?

Why did it feel otherwise? What had Ah Mo been thinking about just now? Unease gnawed at her heart. Ah Mo, were you thinking about the Imperial Concubine?

The original joy of being crowned empress had been greatly diminished, and An Ningxiang’s smile had faded considerably.

On the second day after the coronation, the empress would receive the greetings of the harem’s concubines. After the ceremony, Xuanyuan Mo escorted An Ningxiang back to her palace.

Tonight, he would openly spend the night in the empress’s chambers. The guilt he felt for having feelings for the Imperial Concubine made him feel even more indebted to An Ningxiang.

“Ah Mo, will you always stay in my palace from now on?” An Ningxiang probed gently. “I really want to spend time with you openly.”

Xuanyuan Mo’s heart softened, and he agreed, momentarily forgetting the feelings he’d had for the Imperial Concubine. “Of course, I’ll stay with Ningxiang from now on.”

“Ah Mo, that’s wonderful,” An Ningxiang said, stroking her belly. “Ah Mo, do you think I’ll give birth to a little prince or a little princess?”

“Whether it’s a little prince or a little princess, I’ll love them both.”

An Ningxiang felt content. “Then let it be a prince. Ah Mo needs a prince.”

Xuanyuan Mo’s guilt toward An Ningxiang deepened. He could only say, “All my children will be born to Ningxiang. How does that sound?”

This time, An Ningxiang truly breathed a sigh of relief. “Really? Ah Mo, I thought you had feelings for the Imperial Concubine.” She lowered her head. “If the Imperial Concubine doesn’t have anyone else, I wouldn’t object, but…”

“Ningxiang, don’t overthink. There’s no possibility between me and the Imperial Concubine. Besides, she can’t bear children,” Xuanyuan Mo blurted out, heat rushing to his head. Once the words left his mouth, he froze. He remembered that the Imperial Concubine still had a habit of using calming incense for her naps, didn’t she?

This thought made his chest tighten.

An Ningxiang, now completely at ease, leaned into Xuanyuan Mo’s embrace and drifted off to sleep.

The next day, Xuanyuan Mo went to a secret chamber to discuss something with Xuanyuan Mie.

“So, you’re saying you won’t go to Guo’er’s palace anymore?”

“Yes.” Xuanyuan Mo hesitated for a moment. “After all, the one I love is Ningxiang.”

He had thought about it for a long time. There could never be anything between him and the Imperial Concubine.
