Xuanyuan Mie had a dream, but he wasn’t sure if it was just a dream.
He clearly remembered that Tang Guo had given him a pill called “Huang Liang Yi Meng,” and then he fell asleep.
When he woke up again, he was in this place.
It was very familiar. He was surprised. Wasn’t this her palace?
And now… he looked at himself and saw that he was wearing clothes only the Emperor could wear.
His body was not under his control as he walked towards the bed. A soft body threw itself into his arms.
He looked at the woman’s face in astonishment. Wasn’t this Guo’er? Her face was shy as she called him “Ah Mo.”
Originally somewhat confused and disoriented, Xuanyuan Mie suddenly woke up. No, Guo’er had never called him “Ah Mo” because she could tell at a glance that he was not Xuanyuan Mo.
So what was happening in front of him?
His body still wasn’t under his control. Looking at the beautiful woman, he quickly fed a pill into her mouth.
He then placed her on the couch and sat beside her for the entire night. Following Xuanyuan Mo’s instructions, he left at the designated time.
Every night thereafter, he would come and feed her a pill.
Xuanyuan Mie seemed to have a moment of enlightenment. Was he dreaming, and was what he saw in the dream real or fake?
But he was sure that if he hadn’t fallen in love with Guo’er at first sight, he would definitely have dealt with her the way he did in the dream.
The imperial concubine was enjoying her favor, completely unaware that disaster was about to befall the Tang family.
General Tang was falsely accused of colluding with the enemy and was executed along with his entire family. The arrogant and indulgent imperial concubine was banished to the cold palace.
Xuanyuan Mie watched all this coldly, but his heart was heavy. If this was Guo’er in a past life…
Seeing her standing alone in the cold palace, enduring joint pain every day, with a pale face, asking why?
Throughout the entire dream, the imperial concubine never did anything that would harm others or offend heaven. She was just a bit arrogant.
She repeatedly murmured that it was Ah Mo who said she didn’t have to endure anything, that he could protect her. Ah Mo said that she was the most important in the palace, that she didn’t have to yield to anyone.
Ah Mo said she could act as she wished.
It was Xuanyuan Mo’s favor that led her to this, and she never took the initiative to deal with other concubines.
She waited in the cold palace for a long time, waited until the Tang family was executed, waited until Xuanyuan Mo made An Ningxiang his queen. She secretly ran out and hid in a corner, listening to their sweet words.
Xuanyuan Mo held An Ningxiang tenderly and sighed, “Ningxiang is finally my queen.”
It was then that she realized Xuanyuan Mo didn’t love her.
She was just a shield for An Ningxiang. Barefoot, she stumbled back to the cold palace and set it on fire, burning herself alive.
Xuanyuan Mie watched as her body was engulfed in flames. She didn’t move at all, didn’t even struggle, as if that body couldn’t feel pain.
That sad and lonely gaze pierced his heart. Just thinking that this was Guo’er’s past life made his heart ache.
When Xuanyuan Mie woke up, the person in his arms was still asleep with her eyes closed. He gently stroked her cheek, feeling indescribably complicated.
“Awake?”
Tang Guo opened her eyes and met Xuanyuan Mie’s complicated gaze. “I suppose you have many feelings about this.”
Xuanyuan Mie didn’t speak, just held her and gently patted her. “In this life, I will protect you.”
“As long as you don’t get in my way.” Tang Guo chuckled softly, “It’s best if you’re a bit more cute.”
