“What happened to me?”
Tang Lusheng felt a chill in his heart. Could it really be that Song Xiaoyun’s ghost had returned to take revenge?
But he had not personally carried it out. If revenge was to be taken, it should be against the woman in prison.
“You were struck by clouding of the mind. That ghost’s cultivation is very high. If I hadn’t come, who knows when you would have woken up,” Fang Tianshi said gravely. “Mr. Tang, quickly check whether you’ve done anything against your will these past few days.”
“Alright, I’ll check immediately.”
Unease flooded Tang Lusheng. Hearing that he had been under the effect of clouding of the mind for several days made him even more anxious. He hurriedly took out his phone and called his assistant.
“Mr. Tang, are you asking about the donations? We’ve already completed all of them. The orphanages and the impoverished schools have sent letters of thanks. They’re extremely grateful for your generosity. It solved their urgent needs.”
“I truly admire you. Even though I’m no longer your assistant, if you need anything in the future, you can still contact me.”
Donations? What donations?
Suspicion rose in Tang Lusheng’s heart. He was not impulsive by nature. He probed cautiously until he pieced together the truth.
After hanging up, his face turned pale. “I have nothing left.”
“All the assets under my name are gone.”
“This villa has been sold too. Including the luxury goods inside, the collections, even my expensive suits.”
His eyes reddened. “The company shares have also been sold.”
“The money from the sales was all donated.”
A baby’s cry suddenly rang out, drawing his attention. Only then did he realize his back felt heavy. He was still carrying the infant.
“Master Fang, you must help me. I don’t know why, but everything has been taken by that damned ghost. You must help me. Once I recover everything, I’ll pay you a high price.”
Tang Lusheng spoke urgently. Fang Tianshi frowned. So the ghost had used clouding of the mind simply to strip Tang Lusheng of all his wealth.
Since the ghost had not harmed anyone’s life, it would be better to capture it and send it to a temple for repentance.
“Mr. Tang, tell me in detail what happened over these past few days.”
Tang Lusheng could not explain clearly. He only asked, “Master Fang, is it the same ghost from before?”
“Probably not,” Fang Tianshi shook his head. “This ghost seems intent only on dispersing your wealth, not on harming your life. Mr. Tang, think carefully. Have you offended anyone recently? Or encountered anyone unusual? Any special incidents? These are important.”
Tang Lusheng pondered. After a long while, he said, “There is one matter that was rather unusual.”
“What was it?” Fang Tianshi asked quickly.
“Three years ago, my eldest daughter went traveling and later went missing,” Tang Lusheng said with a heavy expression. “A few days ago, I received a call from a stranger saying my eldest daughter had been killed. He brought back her remains and asked how I intended to bury her.”
“And then?”
Tang Lusheng looked uncomfortable. “Master Fang knows about the previous haunting. My son was just born, so we couldn’t set up a mourning hall at home. I planned to buy a cemetery plot and bury her directly. I know that might be unfair to my eldest daughter, but if anything happened, my young son wouldn’t be able to withstand it.”
