In just three days, Tang Lusheng sold off all the shares he owned and liquidated his private assets. Many people who knew him could not understand why he had suddenly made such a decision.
On the day he moved out of the villa, he dragged a suitcase behind him, dressed in a suit that was neither new nor particularly old, and walked out.
Tang Guo floated nearby, watching him sell off everything he owned and donate the money. When she saw that he had almost nothing left, she happily drifted around in circles.
Qin Jiu stood in a concealed spot, quietly observing. Seeing her smile so brightly, he found himself smiling as well.
Suddenly, he noticed a car parked not far away. Two men in Daoist robes hurried toward them. One looked to be in his fifties, the other just over twenty.
Tang Guo noticed them as well. She floated to Qin Jiu’s side and placed both hands on his back. The cold touch made him shiver. “What are you doing?”
“Daoist Qin probably hasn’t experienced a ghost pressing on someone’s back before, right? With your cultivation, ordinary little ghosts wouldn’t dare approach you.”
“I haven’t,” Qin Jiu replied, his body tense, unsure what she intended.
Tang Guo laughed at his nervousness. “Why are you so tense? I didn’t say I was going to climb onto your back. I’m just testing it.” She looked toward the two men who were nearly in front of Tang Lusheng. “The one beside Fang Yunchi, is that Fang Tianshi?”
“It’s him. Be careful. He truly has some ability,” Qin Jiu said after a moment’s hesitation. “If you want to cling to my back, you can.” He had promised to protect her and not let Fang Tianshi harm her. He meant to keep that promise.
The system thought to itself that he was falling again. Memory or not, once the host started flirting, he never stood a chance.
“Wake up!”
Fang Tianshi rushed up to Tang Lusheng and suddenly shouted.
Tang Lusheng, who had been pulling his suitcase along, jolted as if struck and instantly came to his senses.
His eyes cleared. He looked around, then down at the suitcase in his hand, utterly confused. When he noticed that the suit he was wearing was one Song Xiaoyun had bought for him years ago, his face changed dramatically.
Ever since Song Xiaoyun’s death and after hiring someone to eliminate her ghost, he had moved out of the old villa. He had not taken a single item she had given him.
So why was he wearing this suit?
“Mr. Tang, are you alright?” Fang Tianshi asked, scanning the surroundings with a serious expression. He held a compass like instrument in his hand, as if sensing something.
Tang Lusheng nodded. “Master Fang, why are you here? I’m fine.” He could not understand why Fang Tianshi would ask such a question. Suddenly recalling the strange fact that he was wearing the suit Song Xiaoyun had bought him, he quickly asked, “Master Fang, could it be that some ghost wasn’t completely destroyed?”
“How could I be wearing this?” Tang Lusheng felt a chill in his heart. He did not even dare go back inside to change, afraid something unclean might be there.
Fang Tianshi frowned. The yin energy in the area was heavy, yet he could not detect any ghostly presence.
Hearing Tang Lusheng’s question, he replied, “Mr. Tang, I just came out of seclusion when I sensed something was wrong with the talisman I gave you. Knowing you might be in danger, I came without delay. As soon as I got out of the car, I saw you dragging a suitcase, as if you were about to leave.”
