Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 822

“There is a bit of regret,” Tang Guo said, “but I can’t exactly tie someone up and force them, can I?”

The system was confused. [But he was your husband in your previous life.]

“You said it yourself, that was a previous life. In this life he doesn’t have those memories. He’s a different person now. Do you understand? We need to move forward. We can’t live in the past.”

The system internally flipped a table.

Tang Guo suddenly fell silent. The surroundings grew quiet. Qin Jiu felt slightly uncomfortable with the silence and subconsciously turned to look at her, only to find her drifting lazily while taking in the scenery.

Occasionally two wild ghosts would wander nearby. She would float over and pat them on the head. The little ghosts trembled in fear, not daring to move at all.

Once she drifted away, they all let out a sigh of relief and hurried off.

Qin Jiu was speechless.

With the license plate number in hand, Qin Jiu used connections in the mundane world and quickly found information about the registered owner.

They located the car owner, a thin and gaunt man, who did not match the description given by the ghosts. After testing him, Qin Jiu concluded he was not the driver responsible for the accident.

The owner explained that he had bought the car second hand three years ago.

Following that lead, they discovered the original owner of the car and found his address. The perpetrator lived in a high end residential complex with strict security.

Without a resident’s permission, Qin Jiu could not enter.

“I’ll go in,” Tang Guo said. “It’s easier for me. I’ll take my mother’s appearance and test him. If he still remembers her, he’ll reveal something. After that, getting the truth will be simple.”

Qin Jiu hesitated. “Be careful.”

“Do you think anyone can hurt me?” Tang Guo turned and smiled. “But I’m happy that Daoist Qin is concerned about my safety.”

“Go in quickly and find out the truth,” Qin Jiu said, looking slightly uncomfortable.

Tang Guo drifted into the residential complex. Qin Jiu remained outside, watching her figure disappear. He knew she was powerful, yet he still felt uneasy.

He remembered her flirtatious words and the things she had said about only liking him if they were together. If she were human, he might really have wavered.

Qin Jiu quickly shook his head and muttered, “Qin Jiu, demon catching Daoist. You live to catch demons. Your mind should only hold demon hunting and making money. As for women, you will never look for one in this lifetime.”

About an hour passed. He kept glancing toward the complex. The security guards eyed the strange man in Daoist robes suspiciously, thinking he was scouting the area.

Eventually he just stood there staring.

Half an hour later, Tang Guo floated out. He unconsciously relaxed.

When she reached him, he asked, “How did it go?” As he spoke, he did not even notice he was subtly checking whether she was injured.

“It was him.”

“Do you know who ordered it?”

Tang Guo’s expression darkened. Soon, however, she forced a smile. “It was my father’s new wife. The man in that complex is her older brother.”

“According to him, she was originally my father’s assistant. By chance she became his lover. My mother probably didn’t know. If she had, given her personality, she would have fired that woman.”

“After I went missing and my mother went to look for me, she had her brother run her over.”
