The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 161

At five o’clock the next morning, Jiang Chan sat up. After washing up, she went downstairs to run laps in the residential complex. The original owner Jiang Yuhui’s body was probably the best physical condition Jiang Chan had encountered so far. Even after running for forty minutes, she was only slightly out of breath.

After warming up, Jiang Chan returned to the Jiang house drenched in sweat. Just then Jiang Yuzhi came down the stairs yawning. When he saw her, his eyes widened.

“You’re up this early? Didn’t you used to hate exercising?” Jiang Yuzhi circled around her suspiciously and stroked his chin. “I used to ask you to go to the gym with me and you refused every time. Why are you suddenly getting up early to work out?”

Jiang Chan calmly walked past him. “I’m in high school now. If I want to study well, I need a strong body. I’m going to wash up. I’ll come down to make breakfast. Are you eating at home?”

Jiang Yuzhi nodded as if it were only natural. “Of course. I want green pepper shredded pork noodles.”

At that, Jiang Chan pulled the towel off her head and threw it down at his face. “You’ll eat whatever I make.”

Twenty minutes later, Jiang Yuzhi sat at the dining table smiling like a fox that had stolen something tasty. In front of him was exactly green pepper shredded pork noodles. His younger brother still cared about him after all.

Little did he know that Jiang Chan had simply been pestered into it. Besides, when she thought about how Jiang Yuzhi had been dragged down by the original owner in the previous life and reduced to such a miserable state under the Qin family’s suppression, she could not help feeling soft hearted.

Arriving in the classroom right on time had become Jiang Chan’s habit. She had just stepped in when the class bell rang. Song Miao, who had been watching Jiang Yuhui’s movements, felt a surge of resentment. She assumed Jiang Yuhui was deliberately avoiding her.

In truth, Jiang Chan was indeed avoiding her. If she could not afford to provoke her, could she not at least avoid her? Although the original owner had suffered terribly because of Song Miao in the previous life, that had been the previous life. In this life, Song Miao had not done anything yet. That was, of course, under the premise that Song Miao had not been reborn.

Jiang Chan would not do anything to the current Song Miao who had not acted yet. The original owner’s wish was simply to stay away from Song Miao. Therefore Jiang Chan was putting that into practice, avoiding any chance of being alone with her.

As she listened to the teacher’s voice rising and falling from the podium, Jiang Chan’s thoughts had already drifted elsewhere. Suddenly, “The student in the last row wearing a white shirt, come up and solve this problem.”

Jiang Chan snapped back to attention. It was her. With the original owner’s good eyesight, she saw that it was a physics problem on the board. She stood up. In the few short steps to the front, she had already thought of three or four methods of solving it.

The physics teacher was an elderly man in his sixties who had returned to the school after retirement. He was strict and disliked students who were distracted in his class.

Although Jiang Chan had only lost focus for a brief moment, it had not escaped his sharp eyes. Intending to make things difficult for her, he had called her up.

Jiang Chan walked to the blackboard and picked up a piece of chalk. Jiang Yuhui’s fingers were long and slender, and the girls below stared with shining eyes.

It was only the first day of school, so normally nothing too profound would be taught. Yet this teacher did the opposite and started directly with something difficult.

Many formulas and theorems had not even been explained yet. Jiang Chan began writing swiftly on the board. When the physics teacher saw the formulas she wrote, he could not help nodding. It seemed she truly had some skill.

After finishing one method, Jiang Chan glanced at the teacher and saw he was not telling her to return to her seat. She continued without pause and wrote three more methods. The blackboard was soon densely covered.

The physics teacher grew more pleased the more he watched. Only after Jiang Chan finished the final step did he let her return to her seat. He had originally thought she was just distracted. Instead, she turned out to be a top student.

The teacher did not feel embarrassed. Rather, he felt Jiang Chan was a rare talent in physics. He did not erase her solution but instead explained step by step using her work.

Throughout his explanation, he praised her repeatedly. After class, he even called her to the office. As soon as Jiang Chan followed him out, the classroom erupted in chatter.

“Did our class just produce a physics genius? I couldn’t even understand those formulas.”

“We struggle to come up with one method, and he wrote four in a row. That’s incredible.”

“Is heaven leaving any room for the rest of us? He’s got a handsome face and a super high IQ. What are we ordinary people supposed to do?”

“Seriously, Jiang Yuhui is so handsome.”

The physics teacher sat down at his desk, smiling warmly. “From what I see, your physics level is already at about third year of high school. Continuing to follow the regular lessons might hold you back a bit. Have you considered joining the physics competition class?”

Jiang Chan raised her brows slightly. Wasn’t selection for the physics competition class supposed to happen after the first monthly exam? Why was he identifying her on the first day of school?

This was exactly what she wanted. Jiang Chan nodded decisively. “I do intend to participate in physics competitions.”

The physics teacher’s eyes lit up. He wrote down a book list for her. Jiang Chan glanced at it. They were all books for physics competitions. The biology teacher nearby spoke with a hint of envy. “I wish I had students willing to join the biology competition too.”

Jiang Chan said, “Teacher, could I have a biology competition book list as well? To be honest, I plan to follow the competition track in high school. I have basically mastered the textbook material.”

The biology teacher immediately beamed and pulled out a book list from under his lesson plan to hand to her. The physics teacher was displeased. “Old Sun, you can’t just cut in halfway. Jiang Yuhui is a talent I noticed first. What are you doing interfering?”

Teacher Sun argued, “Teacher Lu, the student himself said he wants to join biology competitions. As a teacher, I can’t stop him. Everything should be based on the student’s own wishes.”

Teacher Lu waved his hand and stopped looking at Sun’s triumphant expression. Both were competition teachers and very familiar with each other. Such verbal sparring was nothing new.

The office fell quiet. Many teachers watched the scene with interest and were curious about Jiang Chan, who stood calmly with her eyes lowered. What kind of student could make both physics and biology teachers compete like this?

The name Jiang Yuhui was almost etched into the teachers’ memories.

The book lists from the physics and biology teachers were very detailed. Jiang Chan went directly to the largest bookstore in the city. When she came out, she was carrying a thick stack of books.

Competitions ultimately came down to practicing problems. Even in modern times, she had done countless practice problems. She never believed herself to be especially clever. She was simply diligent enough.
