The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 121

In the middle of their conversation, Song Yifei’s voice suddenly came from the doorway. “Why is it you? Let me go. Let go of me. If you don’t, I’ll call the police!”

Shen Yu strode over and yanked the door open. Just outside the private room, a pale-faced Song Yifei was being grabbed by the wrist by the same waiter who had brought them the cocktails. Song Yifei’s expression toward the man was both strange and terrified.

Without hesitation, Shen Yu jumped in. She struck the back of the waiter’s neck with a hand chop, and he collapsed instantly. Song Yifei cooperated quickly, and together they dragged the unconscious waiter into the room.

Jiang Chan immediately pulled out her phone to contact the bodyguards. Even though no one was in the hallway at the moment, with so many surveillance cameras installed, it was only a matter of time before someone came looking.

Once the door was locked, Shen Yu kicked the waiter hard. “You bastard, dare you try to pull something on me?”

“Enough,” Jiang Chan stopped her. “Search him. See if we can find anything. If we find evidence, we can call the police and have a case. Without it, it’ll be hard to deal with.”

Li Yan and Shen Yu, along with the still-pale Song Yifei, searched the waiter from head to toe. In a hidden pocket of his clothing, they found a small packet, barely two or three grams.

Jiang Chan’s face darkened when she saw what was inside the clear plastic bag. “I’ll call the police. Don’t touch the drinks he brought earlier. They’re evidence.”

Song Yifei pulled out her phone and played an audio recording.

“When I came out of the bathroom, I couldn’t find the private room and accidentally went the wrong way. I overheard this guy talking to a woman about putting something in the drinks for our room. I recognized him and decided to record it. But then he saw me and tried to grab me. If I hadn’t run fast, who knows what would’ve happened.”

Her face was paper-white and she was clearly shaken. She hadn’t dared to call Jiang Chan in such a crowded place for fear someone might overhear.

“Did you drink from those cups?” she asked, staring at the two half-empty cocktails on the table. Her heart rate spiked.

“No. Don’t worry. We’d never just drink something a stranger handed us.” Jiang Chan patted her shoulder, noticing her gradually calming down.

“Sister Chan, when will the police get here? I don’t feel safe here. We finally came out to have fun, and something this big happens. I want to go home.”

Li Yan was just a little gossip by nature, and not the fearless type. Now that she had come face to face with the darker side of things, it was only natural she found it hard to handle.

“Don’t worry,” Jiang Chan reassured them. “The bodyguards are outside. We’ll make it home safely.”

Still, she felt a flicker of concern. It had been less than ten minutes since she called the police, far too soon for them to arrive. For now, she could only hope the bodyguards could hold the line.

They were deep in enemy territory, and it would be difficult for a group of girls to get out unscathed on their own. Apart from Shen Yu, none of them could really fight. Jiang Chan frowned. It was truly unpleasant to have her fate placed in someone else’s hands.

The girls huddled together, with the door barricaded by the coffee table. Anyone outside would have a hard time getting in. For now, all they could do was wait.

The hallway incident hadn’t escaped the notice of the surveillance system. Since Shen Yu had knocked out the waiter, Zhu Yonghua’s men began to act. Within minutes, another waiter came to knock on the door, trying to check the situation. Jiang Chan and the others blocked the door, refusing to let him in, leading to a standoff.

Unable to enter, the men tried another tactic. The private room was on the second floor, and someone in black tried climbing up through the bathroom window. He had barely popped his head in before Zhao Bingyue shoved him down without mercy. From the second floor, it probably wouldn’t kill him, but broken bones were likely.

Zhao Bingyue’s expression was cold, and her movements were swift and decisive. Jiang Chan glanced at her in surprise, she hadn’t expected her to be this ruthless.

Jiang Chan and Zhao Bingyue stayed in the bathroom, pushing down anyone who tried to come up, while curses rang out below. The bodyguards had broken through to the second floor and were now fighting with the thugs there.

Hearing the sounds outside, Jiang Chan felt even more at ease. The waiter who had been knocked out by Shen Yu earlier had already regained consciousness. Unfortunately for him, Shen Yu and the others had tied him up tightly, so even if he wanted to do something, there was no way he could do anything.

Now, most of the people who should have left the bar were already gone, and those outside had no more scruples, making their attacks even more vicious. Shen Yu listened at the door, sensing that the bodyguards were starting to struggle.

She shouted toward the bathroom, “Sister Chan, why hasn’t the backup arrived yet?”

Just as she finished speaking, a team of armed police officers rushed in. Both sides immediately stopped. Even if they did not want to, they had no choice but to stop.

For the first time in her life, Jiang Chan went to the police station. She handed over all the evidence she had, including the wet wipe she had prepared earlier that was soaked in the cocktail.

In addition to the cocktails served to Shen Yu and the others, there were also the items found on the waiter. The evidence was conclusive. Tests revealed that all five cocktails contained a high concentration of drugs.

Just a trace was enough to cause addiction, and this was reportedly a new substance on the international scene. How it ended up here was for the police to investigate.

To ensure that Jiang Chan and the others had not come into contact with it, all five of them underwent a urine test. Once it was confirmed that there were no issues, they were allowed to leave.

On the way back, Lin Jinyu’s face was grim. In the back seat, the girls huddled together. The initial terror had faded, and they were starting to get lively again.

Li Yan, forgetting she’d been crying miserably earlier, waved her arms excitedly. “This is huge. I’ll be bragging about it for a year.”

Lin Jinyu shot Li Yan a cold glance. “I think you girls really have no idea how dangerous this was. The moment you realized something was wrong, you should have contacted your families right away. How could you risk your own safety like that?”
