“I don’t want to be friends with you!”
Ning Luo had not expected Tang Guo to say something like that so directly, giving her absolutely no face.
Blushing, she looked pitifully at Tang Guo’s retreating back as she walked into the cave, not even leaving her a glance. Ning Luo was completely thrown off.
She pouted. People in the beastman tribe really were too unfriendly.
Sitting at the mouth of the cave, she thought about her situation and felt especially wronged. She didn’t even know why she’d suddenly transmigrated to this godforsaken place and was now surrounded by these unfriendly people.
Luckily… luckily there was still Gaien, who treated her well.
“Ah Guoguo is just like that.”
Ai Yi didn’t know when she had sat down beside Ning Luo. Her build was slightly slimmer than the other female members, mainly because Ai Yi was still an underage female. Normally, the women with thick limbs and soft bellies, who looked particularly unattractive, had given birth to many cubs. In the beastman tribe, women valued strength above all. The harsh living conditions didn’t allow them time to care about beauty or take care of their bodies.
Ning Luo looked up and saw someone who looked at least somewhat pleasing to the eye. “My name is Ning Luo. What’s yours?”
“I’m Ai Yi,” Ai Yi flashed a big smile. “I know you. I saw you yesterday when Gaien carried you back. Gaien is a warrior in our tribe, very powerful. I didn’t expect he’d choose you as his mate. Ning Luo, you’re very lucky.”
“You just said that girl who went in is called Ah Guoguo?”
“Yes, her name is Ah Guoguo. She’s the most respected female in the tribe,” Ai Yi said with envy. “Our tribe’s former chief was her father. Later, to protect the whole tribe, both her father and mother died.”
Ning Luo nodded. “Ah Guoguo doesn’t seem to have a good temper. I wanted to be friends with her, but she didn’t seem willing.”
“I’ll be your friend instead. You’ll get used to it, Ah Guoguo’s just like that. Her temper’s just a bit better than the High Priest’s.” Ai Yi said with a mix of envy and jealousy, glancing at Ning Luo’s clothes and couldn’t help but touch them. “What are you wearing? It feels so nice.”
“This is called clothing, made from fabric. You guys probably can’t make this here, it’s a specialty from my place.”
Ning Luo, finally having someone to talk to, became talkative. “I can help you use beast hides to make something similar to what I’m wearing. It won’t feel the same, but it’ll look close.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Let’s go now then.” Ai Yi grabbed Ning Luo’s wrist excitedly and dragged her to her place, where she’d collected a lot of beautiful beast hides.
Ning Luo naturally followed happily. Having one friend in the tribe made things feel a little less difficult.
Tang Guo had been watching everything unfold and chuckled. “Those two still ended up together after all.”
[Sigh, Host, didn’t you think of stopping it?] The system asked softly, even though it already knew the answer, it had gotten used to asking anyway.
“Why would I stop it? I’m not obligated to stop what’s going to happen next.” Tang Guo sat cross-legged, resting her chin in her hand. “When Ah Guoguo was taken away, not a single person stood up to stop it.”
If it hadn’t been for all the tribe members believing that handing over Ah Guoguo would bring peace, and choosing not to stop it, her ending wouldn’t have been so tragic.
