The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 178

Jiang Chan took the report from the doctor’s hand. “Uncle Liu, don’t get involved in this matter. Just pretend you don’t know about it, and don’t tell my parents. I’ll handle it myself.”

Watching Jiang Chan leave with Xiao Ha in hand, the middle aged doctor rubbed his nose. The kid was playing mysterious now? He had already gotten off work, yet one phone call from this kid had dragged him back to help.

After doing all that work, the boy said nothing more. Doctor Liu shook his head. Trying to understand a young person’s thoughts was pointless.

Jiang Chan gripped the steering wheel. While waiting at a red light, her gaze flickered toward the lab report pressed beneath Xiao Ha’s body.

What exactly was Song Miao trying to do? If she drugged her, what benefit could she possibly gain?

Surely she was not planning to force herself on her? The more Jiang Chan thought about it, the more her head hurt. Though she was in a male body, her heart was truly female. Song Miao’s move was far too excessive.

She had thought Song Miao would give up on her own. Who would have expected this?

Her fingers tapped the steering wheel as she considered the reason behind Song Miao’s actions.

After three years of cold indifference, Song Miao should have realized that Jiang Yuhui felt nothing for her. Then why attempt something like this?

The light turned green. Jiang Chan stepped on the accelerator. She would ask Song Miao face to face tomorrow. She intended to make everything clear and completely extinguish her delusions.

If Song Miao still refused to listen, Jiang Chan would take legal action.

She glanced again at the report beneath Xiao Ha. With this report alone, Song Miao would face at least three years in prison.

Though they had barely spoken, Jiang Chan had Song Miao’s number. It was in the class directory. After setting a time to meet, Jiang Chan arrived early at the teahouse.

She liked tea. Given her mentality, which leaned older, she did not enjoy noisy places like coffee shops.

When Song Miao arrived, Jiang Chan was calmly brewing tea.

Doing it herself had its own charm. Her movements flowed smoothly, elegant and pleasing to the eye.

Standing at the doorway, Song Miao felt that this person before her was like a cloud in the sky, unreachable to ordinary people.

She had dressed deliberately today. Having frequented upper class events in her previous life, she had developed her own sense of style.

She wore a fitted dress and small heels, with carefully applied light makeup. Anyone would call her a beauty.

Ever since Jiang Chan drank that glass of juice last night, Song Miao had been uneasy. When she purchased the drug, she had been told that even a small amount would knock someone out like a dead pig.

So why had Jiang Chan been fine?

The moment she received Jiang Chan’s call that morning, her anxiety only grew.

Song Miao sat gracefully across from her. Jiang Chan pushed over a cup of tea. Song Miao lifted it, inhaled the aroma, then took a small sip. “Good tea. I didn’t expect you to have this skill.”

Jiang Chan took a sip as well. “No matter how good my tea is, it cannot compare to Miss Song’s orange juice.”

Song Miao’s pupils contracted sharply. A few drops of tea splashed from her cup. She steadied herself and set it down. “I don’t understand what you mean.”

Jiang Chan curved her lips slightly and pushed the lab report across the table.

Song Miao bit her lip, staring at it without opening it.

The delicate girl sitting before you looked weak and pitiful. Another man might have comforted her already. Jiang Chan remained unmoved.

It was not that she was heartless. She knew very well what kind of heart was hidden beneath Song Miao’s fragile appearance. If you pitied her, you might be bitten in return.

“Open it. The contents are quite interesting.”

Jiang Chan tapped her fingers lightly on the table. The steady rhythm seemed to pound against Song Miao’s heart, making her tremble.

At this point, Song Miao knew everything from last night had been seen through.

She raised her head, dropping the gentle smile she usually wore. “What exactly do you want to say?”

Jiang Chan clasped her hands and leaned forward, a posture that created pressure. “What I want is simple. You can do it. Stay away from me. Never appear before me again.”

Each word struck Song Miao like a blow. She swayed as if about to collapse.

“I don’t understand. You treat others well. Why are you so cold to me? I’ve circled around you for so long. You never gave me even a decent look. Don’t tell me you don’t know how I feel about you.”

Seeing Jiang Chan so merciless, Song Miao abandoned restraint. She had to know why she was treated this way. She was not unattractive. Though her family background was poor, she was a girl. Why did background matter so much?

Jiang Chan leaned back, growing impatient. “Still don’t understand? Do you think you can just come back and pick up what you discarded? In this world, making mistakes does not mean you can simply make amends.”

“What do you mean come back… You…”

Song Miao’s face turned deathly pale. She stared at Jiang Chan as if seeing a monster.

“You… you came back too?”

She swallowed. The words were difficult to force out.

Jiang Chan neither confirmed nor denied it. To Song Miao, that was admission.

She slumped in her chair. “I understand now. I finally understand…”

Jiang Chan looked at her ashen face. “Tell me. Why did you do that yesterday?”

That question had been lodged in her heart. She already had a guess but wanted to hear it from Song Miao herself.

Song Miao gave a bleak smile. “I just wanted a child. Is it wrong to want a child with Jiang Yuhui?”

The last sentence bordered on hysteria. A server soon knocked on the door, asking them to keep their voices down.

Her suspicion confirmed, Jiang Chan had nothing more to say.

She stood and looked down at Song Miao sprawled in the chair. “Do not appear before me again. I will keep this report. If you continue to act foolishly, I will not hesitate to pursue legal action.”

With that, Jiang Chan turned and left the teahouse without another glance.
