The Supporting Female Character Refuses to be Cannon Fodder Chapter 167

He raised his brows suspiciously. “You really know everything about what happened between us. Did you come back too?”

He might not love studying, but he was not stupid. He circled Jiang Chan twice. “No. If you came back, you’d be grinding your teeth in hatred toward Song Miao. Why are you so calm?”

Jiang Chan pushed his face away as he leaned too close. “Your spit is landing on my face. I already told you, I’m not the same as you. You’ll understand later.”

Seeing he could not get anything more from her, Qin Fen flopped onto her bed and pulled out his phone to play games. “Fine. If you won’t say it, I’ll entertain myself.”

The sound of the game echoed behind her. Jiang Chan, however, was no longer entirely calm.

What exactly was Qin Fen’s situation? Rebirth? He had said the original owner spent his entire life hanging on Song Miao’s crooked tree. That meant Qin Fen likely knew the original owner’s final outcome.

But hadn’t Qin Fen died not long after breaking up with Song Miao in a car racing accident? What was going on?

Things were becoming more and more interesting.

She glanced at the carefree Qin Fen, then forced herself to refocus on her book. The room grew quiet except for the sound effects from his game.

Jiang Chan treated him like furniture.

After a while, Qin Fen, who had been immersed in his game, frowned. His hand movements slowed, then he abruptly shut off his phone in frustration.

Compared to Jiang Yuhui, the top student studying so seriously, he looked like a wastrel drifting through life. Although he truly was a playboy.

If the top student was working this hard, should he, a poor student, also try to rise up?

He could not help recalling the moment he first returned after rebirth, filled with ambition. And now, less than a month later, he had already slipped back into his old habits?

Qin Fen truly had been reborn.

If Song Miao was allowed to be reborn, why not him?

He had driven off a cliff during a race. The car had burst into flames.

After death, it seemed souls truly existed. That shocked him the most. His soul had not dissipated. Instead, he lingered beside his parents.

Watching his father and mother age overnight, Qin Fen felt rare regret. If only he had not gone racing. The thrill had lasted a moment, but the pain and harm it brought his parents would last a lifetime.

As a spirit, he followed them, wanting to comfort them yet unable to do anything. He could only watch them sink deeper into grief.

Until one day, Qin’s mother encountered Jiang Xiaobao, Song Miao’s son.

The Qin family’s base was in the capital. After graduating from university there, Song Miao had stayed in the capital. The original owner Jiang Yuhui had stayed with her.

To be honest, Qin Fen had almost forgotten Song Miao. He had broken up with her cleanly. After tolerantly dating her for a few months, he grew bored and decisively ended things.

When he broke up with her, he had given her generous compensation. Who would have thought she was pregnant afterward?

Song Miao had tried to find him, but after the breakup, he had changed all his contact information. She could not reach him.

In the end, the original owner took the blame.

Qin Fen learned these things later. He was not utterly evil. After realizing Jiang Yuhui had been the scapegoat, he felt a trace of guilt.

He followed his parents as Song Miao brought Jiang Xiaobao into the Qin household.

Privately, Qin Fen had no resentment toward the child. Jiang Xiaobao had brought comfort to his grieving parents.

Watching the boy grow day by day and become increasingly outstanding, Qin Fen felt more and more approval.

But he was extremely dissatisfied with Song Miao.

He might have been a playboy, but he was not foolish. He could tell sincerity from pretense.

His own motives with Song Miao had not been pure. But was Song Miao truly innocent?

He clearly remembered her undisguised delight when receiving his expensive gifts. At her core, she was no different from other gold diggers. She was just less obvious, perhaps due to inexperience.

Once a girl displayed materialism, her impression score plummeted in Qin Fen’s mind. The breakup became inevitable.

He had no objection to Song Miao finding Jiang Yuhui as a replacement. After all, he had not cleaned up properly after their breakup.

But after entering the Qin family with Jiang Xiaobao, her indulgent and reckless lifestyle was something Qin Fen could not accept.

He thought he had low moral standards. Yet Song Miao went even further.

Especially when she encouraged his father to suppress Jiang Yuzhi and Jiang’s company, Qin Fen looked down on her from the bottom of his heart. It was blatant ingratitude.

Fortunately, his son Qin Xiaobao had not been led astray by his mother. For that, Qin Fen was deeply grateful to his father. Without his guidance, how could his son have grown so well?

As a spirit, he watched Song Miao self destruct step by step until she and Qin Xiaobao grew estranged. Qin Fen felt grim satisfaction.

But when he later learned about Jiang Yuhui’s fate, he was filled with sighs.

If there were people he had wronged in his life, there were three. First and foremost, his parents.

The third was Jiang Yuhui.

Even though Jiang Yuhui had never known of his existence, Qin Fen knew that Jiang Yuhui’s early death from depression was not unrelated to him.

Especially when his father later suppressed Jiang Yuzhi’s company, forcing him out of the capital. Thinking of that made Qin Fen grit his teeth in hatred toward Song Miao.

How had he been so blind to fall for someone like her?

Wait. Was Song Miao even in the class today?

Qin Fen rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He had not even identified her.

After being reborn, the first thing he did was pester his mother into arranging a transfer so he could become Jiang Yuhui’s deskmate.

Perhaps, subconsciously, he was trying to make amends.

Yet what surprised him was that this Jiang Yuhui was nothing like he had imagined.

Wasn’t he supposed to be depressed, introverted, and quiet?

Quiet, perhaps. But depressed?

Qin Fen propped his chin on one hand and stared at Jiang Chan openly.

  1. Seriously, if this were another genre, it would be one hundred percent a danmei novel, lol. Wait, doesn’t the original owner return after Jiang Chan leaves? Maybe Qin Fen has a chance! XD
