Facing Xia Yi’s question, Feng Yu looked calm. “I’m sorry.”
“So that’s it? You don’t like me anymore, and all you give me is an apology?”
“When did this start?” Xia Yi could not accept it. Having Feng Yu as her boyfriend had once been the luckiest and happiest thing in her life.
They had been through so much together. During those years, she had stayed up with him night after night. How could he simply say he no longer liked her and mean it?
Feng Yu patted Xia Yi’s shoulder. “When Xiao Guo comes back, I won’t stop looking for a suitable body for you. Xia Yi, I will bring you out. That’s my promise to you. It won’t change.”
“But you also promised that once I came out, we would get married.” Xia Yi bit her lip. “Why can that promise change?”
At that moment, a line of text flashed above the bride’s head on the computer screen, instantly drawing both their attention.
“My name is Tang Guo. Who are you?”
The moment he saw those words, Feng Yu nearly broke down. He pushed Xia Yi aside without thinking and placed both hands on the keyboard, typing rapidly.
“Xiao Guo, Xiao Guo, is that you? It’s me, Feng Yu. I’ve been looking for you for so long. I’m Feng Yu, remember? Your boyfriend, Feng Yu. You used to bring me lunch every day. You stayed with me in the afternoon while I worked. At night we would go to a restaurant together. When I got home, you would message me to ask if I had arrived. Before bed, you would always send me a good night.”
Not a single day had been missed.
Watching Feng Yu’s urgency and the redness in his eyes, seeing how close he was to tears, Xia Yi finally understood. He truly loved the original owner of this body.
Feng Yu was overwhelmed because when he had designed this game, the bride was not named Tang Guo. If she said her name was Tang Guo, then she could only be Tang Guo.
As long as she was Tang Guo, every anomaly in the game suddenly made sense.
There was another person equally stunned.
When Feng Ming heard the intruding player speak, his expression changed.
Feng Yu?
Feng Yu?
If he remembered correctly, his elder brother’s son was named Feng Yu.
Inside the game, he had no idea how much time had passed in reality. He only knew that when his accident happened, Feng Yu should have just entered his final year of high school. Feng Yu was about six years younger than him, but he had shown unique insight into games from a young age.
He replayed the words he had just heard in his mind.
Feng Yu was asking for his bride, Tang Guo, with urgency and excitement. He called her his girlfriend. He said he had come to find her. He described so many moments they had shared. It made Feng Ming deeply uncomfortable.
Wait.
Had he overlooked something?
His bride was not a game character, but a real person?
Feng Ming tightened his arms around his sweet and obedient bride. His expression grew increasingly confused. Lowering his head, he whispered near her ear, “Guo Guo, are you human?”
Those words did not appear on the computer screen. From Feng Yu’s perspective, none of their interaction was visible.
“I told you a long time ago,” Tang Guo replied with a soft laugh. She really had told him. If he refused to believe her, how was that her fault?
Feng Ming could not help himself. He kissed her cheek and laughed quietly. “That’s wonderful.”
So the one he loved was not a game character at all, but a human consciousness like his own.
