After Ning Luo’s cub pushed Aiyi’s cub into the water and drowned him, the entire tribe was thrown into turmoil.
Aiyi had only this one cub. She had always doted on him dearly, and he was especially clever. She had been counting on him to surpass the many cubs Ning Luo gave birth to.
She never expected that before he even reached the age to transform into human form, he would die like this.
The conflict between Aiyi and Ning Luo had already been growing deeper over the years. After this incident, Aiyi demanded that Black Wolf uphold justice and give her a fair outcome. No matter what, Ning Luo’s cub had to be punished, and Ning Luo herself had to apologize to her. Not only that, Ning Luo had to kneel and apologize, and compensate her with food. Her cub was dead. These demands were not excessive at all.
She knew very well that asking for Ning Luo’s cub to pay with his life was impossible. The greatest punishment she could demand was forcing Ning Luo to kneel and apologize.
What she did not expect was that the moment she made these demands, Ning Luo’s mates all looked at her with eyes that seemed ready to devour her, as if she were demanding Ning Luo’s life.
Vigo spoke first. “We can compensate you with more food, but I don’t think Luo Luo needs to kneel and apologize to you.”
“Luo Luo did nothing wrong. The cubs were just playing and accidentally fell into the water. There is no reason for Luo Luo to kneel,” Gaien said.
“I also don’t agree with Luo Luo kneeling to apologize. She did nothing wrong. Aiyi, don’t go too far.”
Aiyi looked to Black Wolf, hoping he would uphold justice. But Black Wolf said, “You can have as much food as you want. Luo Luo really isn’t at fault in this matter. It was just the two families’ cubs playing around, and one accidentally lost his life.”
“Brother, what about you?”
Aiyi was on the verge of collapse. Her eyes were red as she looked at Aimo, her own brother. Her gaze then fell on the cub hiding behind Aimo. That sturdy, foolish looking cub looked exactly like Aimo. He was the one who had pushed her cub into the water and drowned him. He was the child of Ning Luo and her own brother, Aimo.
Seeing Aimo remain silent, she understood everything.
“Aiyi, cubs like to play. We will compensate you with plenty of food. Winter is coming soon. After winter passes and you recover your strength, you will have many more cubs. Don’t make things difficult for Luo Luo anymore.”
“Aimo!”
Aiyi screamed, completely breaking down. “If it were your cub who died, what would you do?”
Aimo fell silent. If it had been his cub, he would have killed that little bastard on the other side. Seeing the fierce look in his eyes, he quickly pulled the tiger cub into his arms, trying to soothe his unease. He would not let Aiyi harm the child he had with Luo Luo.
Aiyi wiped the tears from her face and looked at the other members of the tribe. “Do you all think Ning Luo is not at fault? That they are not at fault? That all they need to do is compensate me with food? Ning Luo doesn’t need to apologize at all?”
That tiger cub had always been mischievous. If Ning Luo had disciplined him more instead of indulging him, this would not have happened. Ning Luo was far too indulgent toward her children. Almost all the other cubs in the tribe were the ones being bullied.
“Aiyi, this time my little tiger was in the wrong. I can apologize to you on his behalf and compensate you with food and new items. What do you think?”
Other tribe members also nodded, saying things like cubs don’t understand anything, both sides were at fault, Ning Luo was already apologizing and offering a lot of compensation, so Aiyi should stop pressing the matter.
