At daybreak the next morning, Black Wolf returned to the tribe with a group of exhausted members.
When everyone saw that they were not injured, they finally let out a true sigh of relief.
Ning Luo and Gaien still had not returned, and despair continued to spread in everyone’s hearts.
The three males who had developed feelings for Ning Luo were especially silent.
“I’ll eat something first, then fly up high to search for Luo Luo’s whereabouts,” Ming Jiu said. He was from the Eagle Clan and could fly very high. He had already flown far yesterday, but because it was nighttime, there were places he might have missed.
Black Wolf nodded. “Mm. If you find any news, inform us immediately.”
Aimo looked worried. “I hope Gaien can protect Luo Luo.”
The three of them exchanged glances and, at that moment, made a decision. They would protect Ning Luo together so that nothing like this would happen again.
Back then, Black Wolf had chosen to proceed cautiously out of consideration for his friendship with Gaien. Now, Ning Luo’s safety was uncertain. If she returned alive, he would no longer remain passive. He would speak to Gaien and propose that they share Ning Luo.
Only when facing the possibility of losing her did he truly understand how important she was.
Aimo and Ming Jiu felt the same way.
That afternoon, the Ning Luo everyone was worried about finally returned with Gaien.
At the same time, Gaien was carrying a heavily injured male Beastman on his back. Ning Luo looked at the battered male, tears streaming down her face. She held his hand tightly and ran into the tribe, following Gaien’s steps.
“Has the High Priest returned?”
When Ning Luo spotted Tang Guo in the crowd, she rushed over and grabbed her.
“Ah Guoguo, has the High Priest come back yet? Hurry and call him out. Save Vigo, please. Vigo’s injuries are so severe. He looks like he’s about to… wuwuwu. I don’t want Vigo to die. I want him to live.”
Tang Guo stopped chewing the dried fruit in her mouth. She held her breath, swallowed the remaining small piece, and then said calmly,
“The High Priest hasn’t returned.”
She glanced at Vigo lying on the wooden board, looking miserable.
“He looks like he’s about to die.”
Tang Guo silently thought that it would be better if that hateful snake died. According to the plot, it was precisely because this snake was too sensitive that Yin Yao’s plans were ruined. It was also this snake who later seriously injured Yin Yao.
Tang Guo could not help thinking that death would serve him right.
But clearly, as one of the male leads, he had plot armor. He would not die so easily.
“No. Vigo won’t die. How could he die?” Ning Luo cried as she lay over Vigo’s body. Tang Guo did not bother reminding her that doing so would only worsen his injuries.
Ning Luo cried to Vigo, “As long as you wake up, I’ll accept you. I’ll forget everything from before. Vigo, alright?”
This time, Gaien did not stop her.
If Vigo had not appeared suddenly, he and Ning Luo would both have died.
Vigo had killed the beast, but the beast had nearly taken his life in return.
When the tribe members heard this, even those who were not fond of the Snake Clan acknowledged that Vigo was a true warrior for saving Ning Luo.
“Should we find some herbs for Vigo first?” Ai Yi said, staring at Vigo’s handsome face. Even heavily injured, he still radiated a powerful presence. “The High Priest isn’t here, but Ah Guoguo often goes gathering herbs with the High Priest. She must recognize many medicinal plants.”
Ning Luo did recognize some herbs, but only very basic ones, such as those for clearing heat and detoxifying. She did not know any herbs specifically for treating serious injuries.
