“Oh… is that so?” Ning Luo did not notice anything unusual. “No matter who the Chief likes, it must be her good fortune.”
Black Wolf almost blurted out, if it were you, would you also think it was good fortune?
Fortunately, he stopped himself at the last moment.
“Chief, let’s go get to work,” Ning Luo said. Thinking of how terrifying the Beast Tide could be, she felt quite tense. “There’s less than a month left. It’s better to prepare everything as early as possible.”
“All right.”
…
“Earlier, Ning Luo suggested to the Chief that members of the other two tribes squeeze into the cave with our tribe members,” Tang Guo said, sitting in front of Yin Yao with her chin propped on her hand. “What does the High Priest think?”
Yin Yao frowned. “The cave is not spacious.”
“The two other tribes together have two or three hundred people. There’s no way they can fit,” Yin Yao stated his view. “Why would the Chief agree to this?”
Tang Guo smiled. “Maybe he feels Ning Luo makes sense, and that the two tribes are our friends.”
“Wasn’t the plan to build some dwellings outside to accommodate them?”
Tang Guo replied, “Ning Luo probably feels that leaving friends outside would be dangerous, and she would feel guilty about it.”
This time, Yin Yao could not help glancing at Tang Guo. “Ah Guoguo, are you unhappy about this?”
“Who would be happy?” Tang Guo said. “High Priest, do you think anyone among the tribe members would be satisfied with such an arrangement? I’m not worried at all. They can’t squeeze into my place anyway. If conflicts arise or there’s not enough space, the Chief will have to clean up the mess himself.”
“This Beast Tide may not be so easy to avoid,” Yin Yao said.
Tang Guo nodded along. “Yes. If it were only our tribe, there would be no problem at all. Now that the commotion is this big, other tribes will definitely hear about it. When the time comes, they won’t let this place go.”
“Ah Guoguo.”
“Yes, High Priest, do you want to say something?”
Yin Yao could not help himself and tapped her on the head, his voice gentle. “When there are more people later, come stay with me.”
Hearing this, Tang Guo was delighted. Was he worried about her safety?
“High Priest, are you worried about me?”
Yin Yao nodded helplessly. “Of course.”
“High Priest, there’s no need to worry. I already made preparations.”
Under Yin Yao’s puzzled gaze, Tang Guo went to a corner of his small space, bent over, and pushed hard against part of the wall. To his astonishment, a stone shifted aside.
System: I’m impressed.
“High Priest, look. I opened a small door here,” Tang Guo said, clapping her hands and pointing at the opening. “If anything happens, I can push the stone aside and come find you right away. You don’t need to worry.”
Yin Yao’s expression was hard to describe. “Ah Guoguo, when did you do this?”
“When you weren’t paying attention.”
Yin Yao: speechless.
“High Priest, don’t be angry,” Tang Guo continued. “I’m sick, after all. To make it easier to see you, I made this. That way I can come over anytime. You could even move your sleeping fur over here…”
“That’s enough, Ah Guoguo. You don’t need to explain your ideas anymore.”
Yin Yao did not say anything about blocking it up. He went to Tang Guo’s dwelling, pushed the stone inward from her side, then returned to his own space and hung a piece of animal hide over the opening, as if to cover it.
In the end, he returned to his spot with a calm expression, as though he had done nothing at all.
“High Priest, does this mean you agree?”
Yin Yao tugged at the corner of his mouth. Was his behavior not obvious enough?
