The tribe members watched as Ning Luo hit Gaien while being carried inside, then gradually dispersed.
Someone patted Aimo on the shoulder. “Aimo, you’re hurt. Go see the High Priest.”
“Aimo, you knew Ning Luo is Gaien’s mate. Why did you provoke him? You’re no match for Gaien.”
Aimo’s eyes were red. “Ning Luo is a good female. Gaien can’t have her all to himself. As long as Ning Luo agrees, I can also be her mate.”
“But it doesn’t seem like Ning Luo agreed, and you can’t beat Gaien.”
Aimo looked a bit dejected. His younger sister Ai Yi quickly came up and grabbed his hand. “Brother, let’s go see the High Priest. Luo Luo is nice, but you can’t beat Gaien right now. Why were you so impulsive?”
Ai Yi believed they shouldn’t directly confront Gaien. Instead of fighting him, it would be better to make efforts on Ning Luo’s side.
Aimo was pulled along to Yin Yao’s place, and Tang Guo followed them, sitting inside the stone house. While Yin Yao treated Aimo’s injuries, Ai Yi sat beside Tang Guo and started talking.
“Gaien went too far.”
Tang Guo said nothing. Ai Yi continued, “Ning Luo is nice, but Gaien wanting to keep her all to himself is too selfish. Aoli likes him too. Now they’re fighting over Ning Luo. Aoli must be heartbroken.”
“Gaien is a bit rough, and Ning Luo is so delicate. I think being my brother’s mate would suit her better. My brother may look strong, but he’s very gentle. If he hadn’t pulled back just in time, Ning Luo might’ve been killed.”
Tang Guo watched Ai Yi’s expression and listened on.
“Gaien is the second warrior. He should be with a female who matches his strength.”
At that moment, Tang Guo noticed Ai Yi’s cheeks were slightly red, and she understood.
When Aimo’s injuries were treated, Ai Yi was still complaining. She kept saying good things about Ning Luo, but the words were full of jealousy. She wished Ning Luo would hurry up and become her brother’s mate and that Gaien would become hers.
The system sighed. [So even among beastmen, there are schemers.]
“There are all kinds of people,” Tang Guo replied. Most beastmen in the tribe were simple and honest, but there would always be a few standouts.
Some of those people could become tribe leaders and lead the race. Others were like rotten apples that only brought trouble.
Beastmen, as long as they had thoughts and feelings, were still people.
The system expressed its understanding. It had learned something new again and felt that following Host was truly rewarding.
That night, while Tang Guo was sleeping soundly, she suddenly heard shouting and noise from the cave next door. She opened her eyes and listened to the sounds, her expression turning a little odd.
[It’s Gaien and Ning Luo,] the system helpfully explained. [Even though I’m not watching, judging by the sounds, it seems the two of them are doing something shameful. But Ning Luo doesn’t seem too willing.]
Tang Guo didn’t bother with it. She closed her eyes and let the sounds drift over. That scene was indeed part of the plot.
Gaien had been jealous of Aimo. After the conflict, seeing Ning Luo protecting Aimo made him angry, and that night, he slept with Ning Luo.
Ning Luo’s reaction was that her heart was in pain, but her body felt especially good.
But as a human, she couldn’t accept Gaien’s behavior. For several days afterward, she wouldn’t let Gaien touch her and threw tantrums at him.
