“What is it?”
Aoli looked at Tang Guo, feeling a bit strange. All her earlier anger had vanished, and even her obsession with Gaien didn’t seem so strong anymore.
What puzzled her even more was that all she did was look at Ah Guoguo for a while. Ah Guoguo hadn’t even said much, so how did she end up being persuaded?
Now, thinking about Ning Luo, she still didn’t like her, but the emotional turbulence had lessened. When she thought of Gaien, she felt even more confused. She was actually starting to agree with what Ah Guoguo had said.
If Gaien didn’t like her anymore, why shouldn’t she go find a male even stronger than him?
“Ah Guoguo, are you serious? Gaien has that weak little female now, should I really give up on him?” Gaien was the tribe’s second warrior, and she had liked him since she was little.
Tang Guo nodded. “Of course. Aoli, think about it. If you bully Ning Luo every day, Gaien will definitely get angry when he sees it. Ning Luo is already his mate. It’s only right for him to protect her.”
“I know that,” Aoli said unhappily. “But Gaien is the second warrior, and Ning Luo isn’t worthy of him. If he had chosen a female better and stronger than me, I’d admit defeat willingly.”
“So you’re feeling sorry on Gaien’s behalf?”
Aoli nodded. “He’s a warrior, a warrior who protects the tribe. His mate has to be strong so their cubs will be strong too. When those cubs grow up, they’ll become warriors stronger than Gaien and can protect our tribe’s safety. Then fewer people will die during the beast tides.”
At this point, Aoli sounded a bit sorrowful. Her parents had died during a beast tide. Beast tides were truly terrifying. After each one, half the tribe would be gone.
So, she believed that strong warriors needed strong mates. Only then could the number of warriors in the tribe increase, and only then would fewer people die in the future.
[Host, Aoli’s actually a good kid, huh?]
“She was never bad to begin with.”
[Sigh, Aoli’s really lucky.] To have met his host and to be Ah Guoguo’s good friend.
“Aoli, think about it this way. If you bring back a male stronger than Gaien, won’t that mean our tribe just gained another warrior? And your cubs will definitely be strong too, they’ll be able to protect the tribe.”
Aoli’s eyes widened. Her one-track mind had never thought of such a good idea.
She thought it over carefully and realized it really was a great plan. She looked at Tang Guo with eyes shining with admiration.
“Ah Guoguo, you’re seriously so smart. Your brain is on par with the High Priest.”
A flash of excitement crossed Aoli’s face. She suddenly grabbed Tang Guo and bounced up and down, hugging her. “Ah Guoguo, you’re the smartest female ever! This idea is amazing. Right! I’ll go to another tribe and bring back a strong male. Won’t that make our tribe stronger?”
“In most tribes, there are lots of males, and they’re super protective of females. They won’t let their females go to other tribes, but they don’t mind their males going elsewhere.” Aoli showed a neat row of teeth. “Ah Guoguo, I’ve decided, I don’t like Gaien anymore. If he likes Ning Luo, let him have her.”
“Tomorrow I’m going to check out other tribes. If I find a male I like, I’ll bring him back. I can even find a few strong ones. With my reputation as the tribe’s number one beautiful female, they probably won’t refuse.”
Tang Guo: “……”
“Ah Guoguo, how many do you think I should get?”
“Three? Or five?”
Tang Guo: “……”
